Salesman at my dealer this weekend said so also. For what that's worth. Also talked about some guy with initials P.B. that was first on the list...

I don't see how it can, if they plan to release the car within the next 12-18 months, nor can I imagine what the motivation would be. They will sell every RS they build with PDK-S on it.

My dealer believes it enough to send me the first e-mail since I gave him my deposit long, long ago.
Made me wonder, but who knows and maybe he's just a fellow 3 pedal enthusiast.

they will sell every RS they build even if they burn up before delivery.

I really really doubt it, it makes no economic sense for Porsche to re-engineer a different transmission for the new GT3 motor when market research told them they will sell more PDK than manual. If it did becomes a reality, I'm afraid it might be a case of the 6 speed manual on the last M5, which made the car worse rather than better.

^^^ agreed. The E60 was designed to have SMG, the manual was a botch job.
