There is no way that Porsche will back-pedal at this point and offer the 991 GT3 RS with a third pedal...the glory days of shifting gears with a foot operated clutch are indeed winding down.

Thank goodness I already have my 997.2 GT3 RS!

Let's be honest, every new P car that leaves the factory is better then the one it replaced. It's quicker, more comfortable and easier to drive. But there is one big BUT.
Some of us doesn't care to much about all that. It's all about the feel, the connection between driver and car. To me changing gears using my left foot and right arm just makes driving so much more enjoyable! And to me the 993tt and 997rs are the most beautiful P cars ever made.

We agree!
I guess what I was trying to say is Porsche made a decision based on economics... The PDK only appeals to a broader audience. It is undoubtedly faster and they need to "keep up" with their perceived competition. Fire or no fire they will sell every single one of them.

Now if the RS is offers the choice of manual or PDK - it will be interesting to see the take rate of one vs. the other.

It's official... I am old at 40... :-)

once they sort it out, it will whip some *** at the ring and people will be in the 991GT3 forum talking about how great the double paddle pull is the easiest clutch kick they have ever done and how RWS makes it so controllable blah blah blah

as a wise man told me -- the silicon valley guys will gobble them all up... they will finally be able to go "gtr fast" and not have to be in a Nissan.

The car has far more universal appeal to a mass market... no one under the age of 30 is complaining about PDK only or 20 inch rims or centerlocks... they are jerking off on forza to N-ring times while their options appreciate... or while their app gains traction... or whatever. Then they are getting a GT3... missing the point that the gt3 legend was created by the 996 and 997.1 and 997.2 lineage which was based on the cup blah blah blah... the next big group of buyers does not seem to really care about any of that and even if they did, what choice do they have?

when Porsche pulls the manual trans that AP said was integral to the gt3 experience... you know the manual trans is dead within Porsche.

I am glad Porsche held out as long as they did...
buy a 4.0RS
it is the 911R of 2035

Easy PJ... lololol.. i'm under 30 dammit, and i have not had enough of my fix of manual yet. I have about 40-50 years before i need a pdk.. and i live close to that wise man (mooty) and i have not gobbled that pdk up.....more like spat on it. vc

I have read that the only reason Porsche even agreed to build the GT3 street car with a Mezger was because the Mezger engine would also be shared with the Turbo, thereby distributing the costs. The Turbo makes up the vast majority of water-cooled Mezger cars sold
Yep. Porsche wanted to go GT racing and the high volume 996 production engine wasn't suitable for motorsport. The GT1 engine was used and the costs were amortized by utilizing ii the turbo and GT2/GT3. The question is what motorsport engine will be utilized after the Mezger. Is it in development for the 991 GT3RS? Or will it be in the form of the 960?

I hope not. Though I also enjoy the hand clutch and changing gears with my foot on a dirt bike almost more then a car with a manual gear box. These type of things just make the whole process more challenging and fun.
