Proper 18" wheels "fit" over the brakes but must have diminished clearance compared to 19's. Does this have any negative effect on cooling?

Ran 18s for the 1st time this past weekend and I could not feel any effects on cooling.

I still have a set of 18" BBS in great condition with very good 245/40/18 NT01's and new 335/30/18 RA1's in the rear, same rubber.

Ideal and by far the most cost effective DE tire for an RS.

Actually, because of the way forgings are manufactured, several 19's will have less clearance than 18's, with the barrel being a smaller diameter. Either way, there is usually more than enough air moving around that heat from the brakes is not an issue.

Concerned about heat dissipation when parked in garage bay after coming off the track. Trying to keep PCCB's as cool as possible and was concerned about a tighter clearance wheel holding that heat in. Good to know that some 18" forged wheels have more clearance than non-forged 19's!

Anyone know of a source of NT01 305-35-18? Seem to be on backorder and I was told 30-90 days.

I can deliver 335/30/18 RA1 shaved in 24h ;-)
Better fit for RS too.

Nice car

I'm planning on running OZ allegerita wheels on the car for track only in an 18X8 and 18X12 size.
Tire Rack is suggesting the Toyo Proxes R888 in 245/40/18 and 305/35/18.

I can also order the wheels from them and Nittos from another vendor but am curious about anyone with experience with the Toyos?
Any problem with the OZ wheels?

Thanks
Bill

I've run R888's and NT01's in 245/305-18. I prefer the NT01's. Better feel, more predictable, and they get grippier as they wear.

You could always go to RS3s or R6s...

When I can get w/i 3 secs of your times I'll put the hohos on. I have a bit more wheel time needed!

Having driven both, Nittos are the preferred choice. Discount Tire online stocks them.
