Buy the car based on the owner

DME is just a resettable computer

No, Durametric cannot reset over-revs.

I agree 100% buy the seller. That being said, if a DME can be reset, how?

I *think* resetting is of the service lights, CEL, etc.

I think what Izzone is saying is that should someone be so inclined, the computer could probably be hacked up to change this info. Has it been done or documented? Not that I've read. Can a durametric reset the over rev info? No, and not aware that PIWIS can either. Hence, his advice, buy the seller, so you trust them to represent the true condition of the car regardless of what the computer says.

the ecu is hackable.

Although Porsche techs can check if the ecu has been hacked. So prima facie, the overrevs from a durametric need to be confirmed by the dealer

Just because a car reads no over revs doesn't mean it has no overevs....buy from the seller

Ecu can by hacked, replaced, switched ect

That being said Giesha is full of over revs.. 1,2 and 3.....
