Default Cayman or GT2? Why are there so many arguments?

I'm going to test drive a new Cayman and GT2, I'm wondering why there are so many arguments like these about the two?

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=997072

Can anybody tell me the real deal? It seems like Cayman owners have "something to prove"

You've heard of apples and oranges? How about melons and kiwis?
The GT2 has nearly 600HP( and there are no "NEW" GT2's) and the cayman half of that? What are you trying to figure out? You are really searching (??) in two different worlds...

Well I'm being told to put my money on the Cayman or Boxster as it's a better track car and can pass a GT2. Obviously I cannot test drive these cars on a track

Are Cayman owners misleading me?

**Rewind**

What do you want exactly? You could not be asking about two more completely different car....so lets start from the beginning

Caymen or Boxster can pass a GT2 if the GT2 is stopped!

I'm looking for a weekend track car only.

Cayman owners tell me to get a Cayman and often criticize the 997 for being a pendelum.

What I'm worried about is when I test drive these cars, I won't have the proper technique coming from a front-engine car and it won't strike me how to properly track it for a couple weeks.

I'm really gearing towards the 997 GT2 but will Caymans make me look like a fool on the track?

The Cayman would be far more superior than a GT2 due to the mid engine layout of the Cayman.

I'm not penny-pinching on this, so yes.

I only put "new" beside Cayman, sorry if this confused you.

You've got to be kidding... Have you been on a race track at all? Doesn't sound like it...

I'm not sure if it's because I'm new here and he's making fun of me, but this is what Cayman owners are telling me.

I'm pretty much dead set on the GT2, but I keep getting hassled by Cayman owners telling me how bad the GT2 design is.

same driver, GT2 will be faster. Cayman is easier for a less experienced driver to find the cars full potential. the torque and horsepower of the GT2 will dominate on most tracks. As mentioned above, they really are two VERY different cars. You need to drive both and decide which feels best to you. I own a GT3RS and recently bought a Cayman. It's a great little track car. Excellent balance. Eats up the curves. Just needs more power. The Cayman does require some modifications (brakes, cooling, suspension) to handle advanced track duties. The GT2 needs very little to go out on track.
