Default Back in 911s again. 993TT to GT3

Greetings to this section of Rennlist. After a very fun ride with a Noble M12 for the last couple of years I am back in a Porsche next week. (If anyone wants a great deal on a VERY fast car (440bhp in 2300lbs) for small $$$, PM me)

I've got a lovely track prepped Cobalt Blue GT3 mk1 coming my way. Its the only 911 I've considered after my wonderful 6 years with my 993 Turbo. It's got a bunch of great mods to suspension and exhaust to play with on the track. Steel brake conversion, solid bushings, track alignment, freeflow GMG exhaust, rollbar and etc.

I've been lurking around here for a bit and have heard a number of the track guys talk about using 18 inch wheels with R Comps for track use. What tire sizes do you go with and what are the wheel specs. I've got a set of 996 turbo twists that are ugly as sin but straight and true. Could I use those on a GT3? I don't really care what the wheels look like when I'm going sideways!

Looks forward to being back in the community.

Best,
Bill

Welcome aboard...hope the GT3 doesn't seem too slow after the Noble - that's a serious power/weight ratio! Curious as to why you're selling it.

I am selling the Noble because some friends and I built a CHUMP car last year. I've had so much fun racing and the Noble is a thoroughly impractical car to use as a sports/road car.
I bought the Noble to track it and its never been on the track. A GT3 should be a better compromise road car with a couple track weekends a year. Once you've done the wheel to wheel thing, track days aren't quite the same.
For a track junkie who will do the Noble right, it would be an awesome machine. GT3s do feel pretty slow in a straight line.

Our CHUMP car is a 1987 BMW 325 that we have stripped and rebuilt as a race car. It's a very fun, balanced little race car and we've done several 14-24 hour enduros in the car. CHUMP is like LeMons but without all the silly BS. We run two hour stints in the car and there are usually 20-70 cars on a grid, so lots of passing, being passed, etc. One always finds some evenly matched cars to do battle with.
Track days are great, but having a 30 minute wheel to wheel war with a car that is exactly as capable as yours is even better. We've done Road America, Heartland Park, and Gateway (our home track) and are heading to Atlanta this fall.

That garage combo is about as perfect as it gets.

I'm a Ferrari 355 Spider/GT3 guy next week.

I'll post up some pics of the two when I get the GT3.
