Default Excellence Magazine Article (Harder then Hardcore)

for the first 99.9 miles.... I honestly couldn't believe what I saw when I opened the excellence magazine to page 94 on GMG's 4.0 build. The pictures for the magazine were either taken while the car was being towed or the blurred the wheels in photoshop. Everyone knows this car has been out of commission for MONTHS and MONTHS and the makers that left their signatures on it in more way then one were clearly not capable of the task. Cmon, Excellence get with the program. Facts need to be checked before publishing an article like this.

Ian Kuah needs to check his facts and perhaps follow up with the actual owner before even submitting the article. If Excellence has an respect for their readers they will publish the truth next month even if it means loosing a few advertising dollars.

If this thread gets deleted then rennlist is just as bad.

Scott it's more like 18 months. I could not believe the article when it was shown to me.
A sad point is that so many have no idea.

Don't post much but care to elaborate on what happened?

The story in Excellence should be about a failed 4.0 build. A car that has been in pieces with the engine out because it blew after 100 miles. Imagine my surprise to see the story June 2013 when The car hasn't had a motor for more then a year. Where did this story come from? Who pushed it? How did it get by? I will no longer read excellence.

This thread must focus on the misinformation of the Excellence Article or surely it will be removed.

What's the full story on the car? I know it has had issues but thought they were fixed. Can you kindly share the story? You can PM me if it's too sensitive. Thanks!

The story is no complete. Just like the motor that blew up and was not repaired by the builder. Perhaps Excellence wants to do a follow up and publish the truth next month.

The owner of the car is a super nice guy and I hope for him that after a long time he gets a true, great running 4.0.

He has the patience of a saint for sure.
Lots has to go wrong for a car to be gone for 18 months but I will let the owner explain, but I think he's not on forums.

The car is in good hands now at Orbit here, back home in Palm Beach and the final result will be like in the magazine.

The "final result" to be provided by a completely different business though? First attempt by a SO CAL company and final by Orbit, correct? Just want to be sure I understand.

Hate hearing these kind of stories, so much sh*t gets swept under the rug. Glad to see some disinfecting sunshine...

Its my understanding the GMG and Orbit are finalizing this together. But yes.

I have not spoken to the owner the last few months, I have spoken to James about it and I can see what I see when I visit Orbit; The car is still there and I see who has their hands in the engine now.

That is terrible, I haven't seen the article, and don't know the story of what has gone on. I have a buddy that has a A8 doing a high HP rebuild that has been sitting at another well know tuning shop for 2 1/2 year! I don't understand how someone can treat a client like this.

I love rennlist because I was thinking the same thing when I saw this article but wasn't totally positive. Can't sweep things like this by rennlist members! Too bad GMG gets the credit.

As far as Excellence I believe they are losing there excellence in publishing.

Too many shady work being done by "reputable" shops from my experience. I, too, have been the victim not only by one specific shop, but other shops as well.

I'm too sickened by the whole experience that I start believing OEM is the best way to go. A dose of reality to treat my sickness of modding...

Hope everything works out for the owner.
