Default First DE in RS with video

Mid-Ohio this past weekend, first DE in the RS.

Weather was awful most of the weekend - temps in the upper 30's to low 40's and rain on Friday, a little less rain on Saturday, but still cold. Rivers across the track in 2/3, exit of the keyhole and between 9 and 10. It didn't get over 50 degrees until Sunday afternoon.

This video is from my last session, second dry one. I wasn't pushing hard since it was my first time in this car. Still about 4 seconds off my times in the 996 Turbo. The good news: I never laid a wrench on the car the entire weekend!

Thanks! The elevation changes make it pretty interesting.

Nice drive, looks like you are enjoying the car

Not my favorite track, but only have been there once and never really got it down.

Thanks, Peter.

It takes a while to sort it out. The two most difficult turns are the carousel and the keyhole, which open onto the two longest straights on the track.

Thanks for your advice about the RS. The 335's fit fine in the rear. The 245 rubs just a little at full lock on the driver's side - easily avoided.

You mean you didn't lay down a 1:37 Jon? Shameful Oops that was the pro course...Good to see you. Coming this weekend as well? Tom Bloom was there in his Interseries car and ran a few laps in my sessions. Made me feel like I was in reverse!

It has been a long time since I had so many cars pass me! I have a lot to learn about driving this car.

It was nice to see you Scott. Too bad that the instructor and A sessions were always next to each other, so we didn't get to swap rides. Hope that you have better weather next weekend. I'll have to miss this one. Putnam Park in two weeks.

What tires are you on?

On RA1's, the venerable .1RS should be able to get into the 36's for the club course. Last year I probably only got a handful of clean laps, and only ran the pro-course once. High 35's, and 36's on pro-course, 37 on club course.

We are just geared too high for Mid-Ohio. The .2RS gearing is perfect. I'm going to experiment more with 2nd gear in the keyhole this year, I think it's the key to 36's on the club-course.

Dantzig nice vid thanks for sharing. I remember driving my RS the 1st time on a track....
Also like the elevation changes @ Mid Ohio, kinda like Oregon Raceway Park (ORP).

Are you running stock wheels with the 335's & 245's ?

I just looked, I never got below a 37 in 2011 on the track in the video above. Very technical track that fights you. More fun in slower cars I think. I like flowy tracks. Or maybe just easy tracks Lol...
