Maybe this is good? Maybe Porsche knows what they are doing, besides catering to the "bigger is better crowd."
It seems that increasing tire patch area with larger diameter tires would go a long way with keeping that good looking *** on the track.

grizfish,
You are correct, that is the physical relationship.
Tyre choice is the current problem but as more manufactures push the wheel sizes up the tyre manufactures will follow with sports tyres. Will be interesting to see if the race cars follow suit. Note race tyres tend to have higher and stiffer side wall profiles so tend to run smaller wheel diameter.

This gets me to thinking about the basic laws of physics. Just like with bicycles and their wheel sizes. "Given the same tire and psi the length of the tire contact patch increases with wheel diameter."

The benefit of the elongated contact patch alone is worth the size increase.

^ Agreed. Throw in the Active Aerodynamic package (yes you read that correctly
) and you will have an extremely stable platform at any speed whether it is constant, increasing or decreasing. The new RS package is going to be fantastic.

My thoughts as well...
Okay its going to be obvious now but I am a Ferrari fan... It took Ferrari years to make their F1 Paddle shift reliable. On the road cars it took 3 generation of road cars to get it performing consistently. I have a 3 pedal Ferrari and prefer less electronics thank you.
