Bay area bound for my new car this Friday!
Although it feels like years since I started working on this deal, I'm really happy (and relieved) to say that I'm flying down with my wife this Friday morning to pick up my new-to-me GT3.
I definitely want to thank all of you here on RL for your help in evaluating the car prior to purchase. I had it PPI checked by Sonnen Porsche, had it privately appraised, ran CarFax, asked 100 questions, had the seller send me 100+ photos, and worked myself out tirelessly with my lender, who finally admitted (after I had already realized it!) that they really don't do many private party out-of-state loans on higher end cars.
However, after all the diligence and toiling behind the scenes to make this deal happen, the fun is now officially set to begin. I'll be down in San Rafael taking delivery on Friday morning and then making my way up I-5 towards home in the Seattle area. If you see a 2010 white/gold GT3 RS be sure to wave at me as you can be sure I'll be thoroughly enjoying my first 1000 miles on the way home.
Fun fact...this will be the very first 997 variant that I've ever driven as I've only driven 996 era 911s up until now. However, I have no doubt whatsoever that it's the car for me and worth taking the plunge. Thanks again for all the virtual help to make my new dream come true. Pictures to come later, of course.

Congratulations. I found my GT3 in Boise, flew out from PDX and drove back the same day. Bring some ear plugs for the droning on I-5.
Actually I'd suggest you drive up the 1 and 101 through Mendocino, Ft Bragg etc. Stay in Eureka or Crescent City and get back onto the 5 at Grants Pass.

I found mine in Scottsdale AZ and drove it back to Northern California and had a blast! Congrats on the RS. You'll love it.
And, yeah. What everybody said about CHP. I work with them daily and they would love to get one last bit of revenue before you leave the state.

Many thanks for the enthusiasm guys! I will definitely look into your drive recommendations too, so that it's not just the boring I-5 blast home while I'm down in NorCal. Pictures and stories to come!

TNetworks,
The car was only at Sonnen for the PPI but was originally serviced at another Porsche dealership. This is an off-the-grid RS that was used as a daily driver. Transaction price is possibly an all-time low for a 2010 RS, but that is why I'm buying it (and there was a lot of due diligence required for me to gain enough peace of mind to move forward). Fortunately, the seller has been truly amazing and patient.
