Default Ideas for hand operated Cup car clutch

Does anyone have a suggestion on rigging a hand actuated hydraulic clutch ? I had a major lower left leg injury and we are looking for a way to install a hand operated clutch on a cup car. Probably on the gear lever.

The issue is moving enough fluid volume to displace the rod in the slave cylinder such that it throws the release bearing far enough. One possibility is to use a new hand controlled master cylinder to control the existing master cylinder thus turning the original master into a slave cylinder.

This is all being contemplated on a 2011 997 Cup. Without a solution, I'm out for many months. Hence, I'm looking for any novel ideas or knowledge of existing solutions. Thanks for the input.

Paddle shift for 997 cups. Wright Motorsports has installed some. Give Tim a call. $12-15k.

Thanks Savy and JCastle. By chance, I'm talking to one of the Wright guys tomorrow. These could both be viable options.

Savy, any idea as to the cost and reliability of the Shiftec unit ? I've got to get IMSA to sign off on whatever I do.

I appreciate the input so far.

No, its David D. Mike M is doing just fine.

Broken ankle and completely ruptured Achilles. Both needed surgical repair. Motocross tracks with huge doubles are probably not the best places to hang out on Sundays if you're over 17. Its going to be a long spring and summer.

Thanks. It's a real pain, but eventually it heals. In the meantime, pushing a clutch isn't in the cards via conventional means. But it looks like there are some options out there.

Shiftec is used by F1, and Porsche in the new Cup, there is nothing better...they offer the full paddle shift if you want that as well, see their site.

PS- I just looked at that KMP unit- beautiful stuff as well.
