Default What's a 7.1 GT3 like as a daily driver?

I'm thinking of selling my 997.1 C2S and getting a 997.1 GT3.
I do about 10 track days a year but I also like to drive my 911 around town. The C2S is a dream as a daily driver.

How does the 997.1 GT3 compare around town?
How's the weight of the clutch?
How's the ride?

Thanks for the input.

Excellent. That's the sort of enabling that I was looking for. Thanks.

great, the clutch is just like a real car unlike BMW which take about 3 grams of force to depress.

- Clutch is hard compared to the Carrera clutch.

- The GT3 is louder inside

- the stock GT3 suspension has too much vertical motion (up/down) regardless of PASM setting

- The front spoiler lip gets destroyed easily with street use, the front profile is too low.

It is fine as a DD but the Carrera is a better DD.

Great... mines a DD.

Smooth, comfortable, relaxed and exciting when you want. Pretty good on fuel and if running MPSS over the standard MPSC's cheap to run.

Down side is the low front on kerbs and dips in the road but you get used to the occasional scrape plus the spoiler lip is a replaceable/disposable part. A front axle lift kit will solve this minor issue and there's a couple of after-market kits available.

Coming from a 06 C2S to a GT3, it is no problem as a DD. The GT3 is so much more car, you will love it.

NJ-GT, is correct to a degree. The front is low but its the excessive length of the overhang, by that I mean the approach angle or distance of the spoiler in front of the front tyres. Also the suspension stock is fine for road use or DD but for track there is room to improve.

Have put 25+K street miles on my 997.1 RS (w/ Sharkwerks bypass). I daily drove it for 8 straight months. It makes a great grand tourer, too (Houston to LA in 3 days with time to see things).

You get used to the clutch within days and every other clutch seems wimpy.
I hate PASM on everything I've driven. I want a real spring/shocks package.
The car works better with monballs, even on the street.
Buy the cup front splitter, it's cheaper and more flexible.

They are great to drive.

Conditions permitting, a daily drive in any GT3 variant is a good day. It's certainly far more exhilarating than a Carrera. But I'd be willing to bet less than 10% of them are driven that often and probably fewer which are utilized as primary vehicles.
A DD is a GL550 if you ask me.

It's a bit of a wet cat...but you'd be too if you could go 0-100 in 8 seconds and were stuck in rush hour traffic.

RS models (at least my .2RS) are too noisy for music or calls without headphones IMO.

GT3 as daily is fine. In traffic, it sucks as much as any manual car. Clutch is non issue unless you have leg strength of a 10 yr old kid (you will get used to it in a week or less).

It will scrape around town but if you crawl side ways going up and down driveway/speed bumps, it is fine. Or just avoid going into the ramp that is too steep. It is more hassle but who cares. People will wait behind you thinking "WTF... nice car though" I think it is better than being behind a Prius in the left lane who is going 50 in 70 zone
