I've been watching this like a soap opera on the sidelines. The online riot on their Facebook page was impressive. What a dramatic turn of events. Congrats, guys!

You still have to wonder what the reason for cancelling was really about in the end....

What a clusterphuk.

That's disappointing. Sorry that happened. I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless.

Rumor has it the governer got involved and made a few phone calls. That's at least what I read on the chin fb page. Wouldn't doubt something with power made some calls. What a ridiculous blunder....

Try to make it if you still can. At this point I can careless about going to COTA but I decided to go to support MVP ... they really went to bat for us with COTA

What I've heard happened from local sources:

Many ppl from Texas (myself included) made calls to their local legislature. We expressed concern that $25M/year of public money was going to fund a track that won't honor signed contracts, and that the taxpayers would not sit still for public money financing a private rich man's club. Mr. Perry heard these messages, and made a phone call. Funny how $250 million over 10 years possibly being held back can impact a decision....

Actually....here's what happened. While I don't know the Governor, I know a number of people who do. I asked one of them to place a call to him, as a friend, to seek his counsel on bringing some sanity back to the process. Glad it worked...and I hope that COTA chooses to continue renting the track to established, safety-oriented organizations beyond the 4 that were reinstated.

Awesome, I just assumed incorrectly that it was the calls we made down in Austin. Thanks for doing what you did

credit goes to everyone!

COTA has really done themselves in and they have not done anything since the weekend to fix the negative public image

Now let's see what COTA do next with other club's rental request. I can't imagine they want to refuse extra income from DE rentals. How many private $50K days can they hold a year, a month or even a week? I can't imagine every single day of the month is taken up by these high cost private 23 cars event
