I'm desperately searching for accurate drawings of the 997 RS. Ideally, I would like 3D CAD (nurbs surfaces, to be specific, in STEP or IGES format), however just simple 2D would suffice. As long as it has at least 3 views. 2D must be in DXF, IGES or Adobe Illustrator format. This is for the exterior of the car.
I've already procured some 2D drawings off the web. While very detailed, showing 4 views (top, side, front, rear), they proved to be horribly inaccurate dimensionally.
Hoping someone on the list can help. Anybody got an "in" at Porsche?

u NEED to stop fking around with that CAD thing and trailer obsession.
you have way more issues than i do.
get in the eggplant and drive the damn thing.
I woul think what you are asking for are pretty tightly controlled by Porsche unless someone has taken on the work themselves. Scanning would be your best bet if no one comes through. I'd contact Mimic Studios down here in SoCal I know they do a bunch of automotive work and may have what you're looking for, or could do the work for you. Or find someone that does Whitelight Scanning and Photogrammetry to produce what your looking for - current state of the art and produces models/surfaces with accuracy better than 0.001"

Not nessacarilly. The cars typically have a design patent. Meaning sometimes you can find 2D drawings in the patent filing. I can also envision lots of other reasons Porsche would release this type of data. Die-cast models being one. Accurate video games is another. Providing the template for teams to plan & design their graphic wraps is another. Aftermarket parts, on and on and on.
I don't require the accuracy you suggest. As Mooty already stated, I'm just mucking with my trailer design. :-)
Lar, this is the only CAD I can find. It's a grandpa 911 but measurement should only be off by couple mm since they have not changed the design for the past 90 years

Not so fast there, Maynerd. My new trailer means I'll also be getting a truck. To celebrate, I'm getting an appropriate outfit: boots, hat and big shiny belt buckle. Then, to really tie it all together, a gun rack in the rear window!
