a lawn mower will not pass 90db!
Yes your right! hence the drinking thing. 92db at 50 feet is essentially hard but doable for 2005+ stock gt3's.

Just to add something to the conversation:

I has come to my understanding that the 90dB track days being offered have always been 90dB days. This is not a new regulation that has been passed. It's been 90dB for a long time.

These 90dB day are days that Skip Barber has given up and others have decided to buy up.

In regards to the comment on how our NorCal tracks are old and decrepit, I don't see it that way. Look at other tracks around the country. They are poorly maintained with rocks and gravel spitting out everywhere and tires getting demolished in one day. This is not a jab at RF. I've seen many other tracks around the country that do this. None of the tracks in NorCal are guilty of this. They are very well maintained and very convenient on location to where I live. One reason I force myself to tolerate Kalifornia is the easy access I have to 3 great tracks.

Not really true; these were 85dB days from Barber (see below) and were "fitted" to the 90db category of the "general use permit" for Laguna.

There have been no 90db days really, just Barber days, 92db days and unlimited days.

True, but therein lies the "danger" for the future While there are more DE spots now than in prior years with Barber days at a minimum, the majority of TOTAL days are NOW at 90db. So, how long do you think those 92db days are going to stay? They will be slowly but surely "converted" to 90db or lower days down the road. Just look at the "Cherry's" event this past September which was at 90db(!) for the first time ever and it wasn't a Barber spot, either

Yes, I totally agree with you on this. I only brought it up because it's difficult to cry foul on the barber 90dB days since they've always been that way. It will be impossible to raise the limit on days that have always been 90dB. I totally agree that the danger is that all the days start moving to 90dB or worse.

A regional track organizer (or two) is/are planning to get something started in January to see how we can help ourselves on the Laguna sound issue. Stay tuned

That's if you short-shift and lift AND maybe move to the left of track (my strategy). That also sort of avoids people passing you up the hill to T6 (the one's you just "destroyed" earlier but are now on your tail because you have to slow down... Let's hope they keep the soundstation at T5 and do not do the "roaming" truck thing (you can get caught anywhere on track...). AND, let's hope the big boss is not in his office at the straight, watching you pull your 97+... My Aventador friend got caught on the straight and was done for the day.. Sucks big time...

Noticed this date for 2013
30-Mar Laguna Seca (105db) Checkered Flag Racing Association

Wonder if my car with the new exhaust would pass sound, otherwise will just have to let LS go.

We have the same problem at the two tracks closest to me. I now drive at Oregon Raceway Park, and they have the sound limits written into the local bylaws that a car cannot exceed 108db @ 100 feet (typical SCCA testing is @ 50 feet). ORP is within driving distance of the Bay Area. PJS996GT3 (Montoya started with us this year as well) track together, in an open lapping format with point to pass anywhere.

I think Savy mentioned new tracks being safer, I would agree with him in this case. ORP is only 4 years old, and with the exception of one corner, there nothing to hit.

That is a hell of an offer my friend. There is a remote possibility my English Barn-car will be ready by then but most likely now in April. Massive mfg growing pains (as could be expected) has all deliveries pushed back I couldn't bear to take a chance on cracking up a 4.0 that wasn't mine
