I'd rather rip around town and risk a ticket than lift at Laguna in my [bone stock] GT3 to pass sound. Closing my flaps made the car feel like it had a banana stuck in the tailpipe. Typical CA BS. Never again.

Agreed! The car is a "dog" under 3K RPM, throttle response is delayed (probably due to the "two-ton" flywheel) and my '07 S behaved better in low RPM's. I couldn't stand "plugging" my GT3 -and not hear the nice stock sound PLUS feel the responsive throttle. Reminds me of a Focus ST I test drove yesterday. I understand, this is somewhat "apples to oranges" but I HATE (repeat: HATE) delayed throttle response, and that is what that Focus did. Push the gas, count to three (slight exaggerated...) and there she goes. I've decided to "boycott" Laguna for anything over $200/day since I really CANNOT drive the whole track uninterrupted. And if one of the earlier posters is right about the "roaming" sound *****, then even short-shifting/lifting at T5 won't do you any good. Too bad, so sad

Geez what do people expect when they move their next to a racetrack? Fortress of solitude? No it's a racetrack that was there before they were live with it! Same people that move next to an airport and start complaining how they can't stand the noise all these years!

I think I know the answer but gotta ask anyway. I am (was?) planning on a trip to Laguna this October. I just got notice that sound limit is 90db. I was already concerned about being able to make 92 or 93db (what I thought it was), but 90db. I don't know if I'm going to be able to swing that.
Current thinking it refit the OEM exhaust (I have a 997.2GT3RS), deflector pipes, and possibly some supertrapps on the end of that. Thoughts?? Understandably, I cannot get a straight answer regarding if fixed sound measurement location or roaming, or both. If fixed, I could just stay off throttle exiting out of T5. Reading this thread, I'm hearing even intake noise can bust 90db. Geesh.
I've never driven Laguna and really want to. But I'd be flying down from Seattle w/ car being transported so big expense and time commitment. It's an understatement to say I'd be disappointed to arrive and not be able to drive.
For the moment I'm ignoring concerns of what this might mean for the engine but that's a concern too.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
