A bunch of the DE cup came to the narra event at Road Atlanta. It was well run. There would be official timing available let so guys do t have to scare the de drivers. Solo and Time Trials usually run together so you could TT or not.
That sound good and keep us posted if they are going to host an event. Just need to make sure DE Cup get at least 4-5 20-25 minutes session per day and not get relegated to some 15 minutes gap filler every 2-3 hours like NASA with 60 cars on the track in the same time.

Should be no more than $500 round trip from LA to Austin with Southwest and there are alot of fun things to do there. Book on CD is your friend when you have to drive 18+ hours each way alone

Yup ... that's why I am doing this insanity thing and haul my car all the way there. This track is so new even CGI gamer are having a hard time mastering the track as shown below. Can't wait to watch the F1 race in 2 week - 11/18 and see how Hamilton and Vettel handle COTA.

There are some fast turns and long straights and I think my Z06 will actually use 5th gear and pushing well pass 150 mph!

MVP event is already oversubscribed (according to advanced emails)...

But doing it ourselves with our own rules may be difficult.

Ultimately, I would like a 3-day David Murry DE - pretty much no-rules. Wonder if DM would/could make this happen?

NARRA schedule be out by PRI in early December. Narra solo is much like chin but with less people on track. Nothing like NASA DE. And the sessions are 4 x 30 I think.

+ 1K David Murry even for 2 days would be 14 hours of open track. Since he usually runs week days it would open up Sat/Sun for another local track

actually my co-driver/ race team partner Jason Saini laid the first marks down in the multi-turn complex on the top half of the course...in our rental chevy impala.

have to compose a lot of emails and proposals for the 2013 season coming up but will get you guys a turn by turn official guide and put it in the racing/DE forum in the next few days.

What's a Chevy Impala doing at COTA? lol Will look for your track guide in couple days

Spoke with David at hook on driving today and they do not have plan to run at COTA as of now but actively looking for potential partners to host an event there. Folks, keep a sharp eye out for any good COTA event for our DE Cup

Did some more digging around about COTA and the owner is kind of in F1 cloud thinking people will pay big $$$$$ to drive there and so far MVP's deal is the best. Here is what MVP posted on another site:

COTA currently runs somewhere $30K-$35K per day to rent and renters have to take three days (Friday-Sunday) for a weekend event.

On the 3.4 mile track, possibly 35 cars per run group maximum assuming four run groups (four 30-minute sessions per group daily), you are looking at $750 - $850 per driver for the three day weekend with almost no margin for error and that's if the track weekend sells out. Not a lot of organizations will run that financial risk.

If MVP can pull this off then it's safe to say our ultimate DE Cup will be with them in mid March.

Here is another video of COTA in the red dragon with Alex Gurney

I timed him at two 2:15.0 laps.

What that means is that even DE Cup will be in the 2:40-2:50 range. Almost a 3 minute lap. And that Novice drivers will drive 3:20 ish laps for 5 laps a session. And that clean up will take for ever.

In other words, very slim chance we even get to run the full course. I bet most clubs will run the partial course. I'd bet NARRA might try and run the full thing though.

Even the V8 Supercars will likely run the shorter course, with the cut-out at T10.
