^ agree
Offered 48 on the 2012 vs the 55 on the 2013 and dealer did not even counter

Glad it worked that way - went to a dealer in Oregon and got the 2013 for 51.5

Which I think is a good price but only shopped those 2 dealers

No, It's fine. I like the car the way it is. If I need to chase the traffic light I'll put a tow hitch on the GTR
The Touareg is a 1.5 years old and has 25K miles on it.
I'll save my car ADD to what is worth. That is more than enough for my needs.
Only if it had ventilated seats, I'll probably keep it for even longer.
I have extended warranty, maintenance free plan, and everything in between.
Paid 52K out the door with all the extra crap when It first came out.

Which ones do you have? I have tried 4 different ones wasting money of useless stuff, and just bought a 5th set to try still in boxes.

Thanks

When we met at Road Atlanta last month, one of our guys had towed his 4.0 to and from RA from Toronto with his Touareg diesel and enclosed Trailex. I had my 26' Pace alu and Dodge 2500 diesel, and he seemed as comfortable going through the mountains as I. I was pretty impressed by that "little" suv. My cousin has the same setup and tells me that he can't feel the trailer back there. It'll do 80mph all day long. Pic below is on the way back.

Enclosed Trailex is 1000 lbs more than open, so you should end up with a total weight of between 5500 and 6000. I would not go higher on a truck or suv that is rated at 7500. You always want to keep some overhead.

You have a nice car, you should carry it inside something, not on something IMVHO.
Francois, that is good info. Thank you sir.
Is this the 4.0 you are talking about?

Lindsay,
I know you got great advice already. I just wanted to reinforce the same stuff. Select the trailor that your car needs and one that suits you. Then the select the tow vehicle that can tow all that weight safely (with some reserve). You can still DD your GT3 because mostly this is a tire issue.

If you do this backwards, you will compromise every step I think.

See you at Barber

Anton

Paver,

If you were looking at a Trailex in Orlando, I might have been the one who got it. well, my brother actually bought it for his Exige, but he lives in the NE and with the winter coming ask me to pick it up and store it for the winter. I also just used it once to try it out . My brother might actually be interested in selling it again if he can't figure out a way to store the trailer at his house without his associaton complaining (not enough garage and driveway space).

Let me know if your still interested in an open trailex, because from the sound of things, you may end up with an enclosed.....

Yep, it was me. Was doing the due diligence on it when the seller said "oh by the way, it's sold."

I'm interested. Let me know.

The AeroVault is the only safe enclosed trailer for a medium size SUV, but wider mirrors or mirror extensions are needed.
Only problem with the Aerovault- it's about $24k. I'd rather get an ATC 28' enclosed with a drop down sidedoor and many of the trimmings for that sort of money, and pull it with a diesel pickup. I'm happy with my 14' ATC for my kart racing- it fits 3 sprinters, a laydown and all out equipment no problem, and we tow with a F150 no problem.

Yes, but only the Trailex CT-80180 and the BRE AeroVault. Any other, and you start compromising. No need for side mirror extensions.
