I am never going to need an enclosed trailer.....just like I was never going to need an open trailer....just like I was only going to do one more event this year etc, etc, etc

"Need" is all relative
Fwiw I had a fl open and it was great
Trailex is a rare bird in the nw and the people that buy them pay the same $9k you are being quoted
The good news is when you "need" an enclosed, the trailex sells instantly
I sold my fl open in a week for the same money I paid for it
One thing is for certain from my perspective - tracking hobby improves with trailer

I bought my trailer 1.5 yrs ago, same time i bought the rs. The open fl is an awesome trailer but i am definitely ready for enclosed. If you are into the hobby enough that you think you might one day soon lust after an enclosed...it may be worth just skipping the open step. Not like there is any harm tho in getting the open esp if you get a good alum one since u can sell it for what u paid

Right now, I don't even have a tow vehicle. I need a new daily driver, so I am going to get an X5 diesel or Touareg diesel. The SUV will pull the trailex open. Don't think it would pull enclosed. That's the plan for now. I need to stick to that. I don't need a GT3, daily driver, 3/4 ton pickup, 15-20k enclosed trailer.

dd the gt3 when you can, truck when you can't
In all seriousness, rl'er north van towed open aluma brand trailer behind a gas touareg for years without issue... Of course he ditched it for a 1 ton dodge/cummins but still steadfastly sticks with the open trailer... For now
If you have to daily a small SUV the touareg diesel is a very nice ride
I dd my gmc 3500 as well :-)
My commute is 10 miles in traffic

Then moved my 22' enclosed ATC with car in it from Tampa to Orlando.....scary but had to get it home
Then used Lollipop's F150 to tow ATC to Savannah, GA.....no torque / too soft suspension, sucked.....
Then bought GMC2500 Duramax....problem solved. Just need to get wake teh dead horn installed

I had the Trailex open ( 8045) fro several years and it is a great trailer that holds its value. Sold it for what I paid for it new. I now have their enclosed and it is even better. One of the nicest things my wife says is when we travel I don't keep looking out the window at motels to see if someone is "borrowing" something as in steeling wheels etc. The open or enclosed Trailex tows easily behind our Cayenne . My open one may be available as I don't see its current owner using it.
Besides the fender enhancement of the trails ( no need to remove them to open doors of lowered cars) they Trailex also has 11 foot ramps so I can easily get the Spyder or my "SC" track car up without hitting the front spoiler.
If and or when you get one don't forget to add a winch, so much easier than trying to push a sick car in. Also if you have the chance , visit the factory. The folks there are great and you can see first hand the way they build these outstanding trailers.

Lindsay. My wife stole my daily, so I ended with her SUV, which all in all was a great thing. It's a 2011 Touareg TDI. I think it drives better than the X5. X5 interior quality is better, but drivetrain on the VW is modern and more fuel efficient. Car gets 27-30 MPG all day long, and I drive around 80MPH.
Exterior is subjective, I like both, but X5 is sportier looking.

same motor as cayanne
Believ they went to a twin scroll turbo in lieu of single turbo
