Contrast that with UK prices for the 4.0...they're two available at ~GBP190k.....or roughly 60k above list...

you might be on to something
I'll just keep my Fiat hunt going.......I need a prancing horse
We shoudl start a bet of how long it will take for teh 4.0 value to tank lower than a SCUD (assuming $185k for SCUD)......LOL
I say 13 months

That is very near 458 money. As soon as solid info comes out on the 991 GT3RS, they will be less than sticker. Now they bring more than a Scud?

I owned a PTS '11 GT3RS but decided the 4.0 was too close to Ferrari money.

Scarcity is the primary determinant of value of any item. The fact is there are only approx 130 GT3RS 4.0 in the USA. Less than three per state if you want to look at it that way. There will never be any more built.
The 991 GT3 is the non-Mezger DFI motor which doesn't rev as high. PDK trans only. Electric steering. Better/worse, who knows but the fact is it is a totally different car than the 997 .2 GT3 car.
So there is a case to be made for 4.0 ownership. Where is the "fair" price? I'd argue $200k and that this price will hold for many years. Not unlike a CGT. Yes, it is the same body shell that Porsche has used for a long time. However the engine/suspension combination is a masterpiece for track use in both skilled and hamfisted hands.
