Bruce next time you're torquing center locks with new pads all you have to do is start the car and use the brake boost and the pad will grip the rotor. Easiest for a shop is to get the truck brake pedal depressor so you don't have to use 2 techs and start the car while you put the brake pedal depressor on.
Most shops I know that understand center locks have been doing this and that is where I learned it.

^ Exactly what I do. That's evidence of hands-on CL wheel change experience!

So, if two techs are needed for deadly CL wheel changes, the shops charge $175/hr or $350/hr?

Do the shop business insurance premium increases when work is being done on these faulty-design-neglected-fix-life-threatening wheel attachment system?

If I were a shop owner doing maintenance on these Lemons, I would require a signed waiver from the customer, to release my shop from liabilities connected to this amazing Porsche Design.

Ok, so not going into defense mode, but we have brain farts too!
Yes we are aware of the Carrera and other models not fitted or having the option for CL's, and the specific models that only were offered with CL.
We don't want to appear stupid, but we certainly sounded rather noob

As you all know, we are not noob's

Regarding the liability waiver, we have done something along these lines and do have a statement on all invoices having to do with CL's to help with this area, but hard to hold a firm line, when we want to help everyone.

BTW, we are not friends with the CL process, we were married, but now divorced and going through therapy...

LOL...that is funny...but taken seriously at the same time. Right now I can't afford to get divorced but it's in the back of my mind.

you should say "...may not ever happen from street only driving YET".

the more I read these thread, I more I think the 5 lugs conversion is inevitable. It is just a question of whether Porsche will pay, or I will pay.

Would be interesting to see the failed parts being inspected by a proper lab. Until than, only speculations.
Not trying to defend CL, but we probably have the most agressive track in the Country as our backyard.
Combined the FL guys have thousands of miles, and hard driven miles on the bumpiest track, and Zero failures so far.
Hope to keep that way.
I still believe that we are dealing with user error, most likely, until someone step up and do the right thing.

Don't know if I understand correctly but will float this out there. If the early cup 7.1 cl is the same as the street cl then I've had good experience with them. 14000 km all race, lots of curbs and more... Still stock wheel bearings , struts, uprights etc and no failures...

Yes, Installer error and with CL's there are lots of places for Installer error.

Just like the 100 track days I had on my Blue RS before I sold it. Drive pins were pristine aside from scratches from wheels on/off, not one tell-tale of damage.
