Fast 4.0 at Laguna Seca this weekend
#31
R6 are way faster than stock MPSC. On a track like Laguna, probably 2.5-3 seconds on sticker R6's.
Randy is driving random cars not set up to his liking and hopping in several cars a day. While his times will be considered fast for us amateurs, he is not maxing them out. I'd bet Randy with the car set up to his liking and with more than a few laps in said car (since he only does a few laps on those test days) could go a tad bit faster.
That's not to take anything away from Jesse, his time is still blazing fast for a non-pro, kudos and I can't wait to see that Video. The cups run what 26-28 there on slicks?

randy pobst time is a pointless ref. pro's dont really drive that hard on test. JvoB had some time at LS, not that much faster than i did. but i assure you, he can easily drop 5-8 seconds off those magazine times. he dumped in in 2 turns like i was looking for keys to the ignition. so do look at pro times and think you are any where close to them.
btw, R6 is not 3 seconds faster than mpsc. no way at LS.
at serge. i think it woiuld be interesting to see fast jessie driving against smooth jeff against death wish potter, no?

Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 at Laguna Seca - 1:33.1 Video Posted on YouTube...
Wow - by popular demand I have posted my first driving video publicly. I appreciate all the kind words, it's taken a lot of practice to deliver this kind of time. Previous best on Hoosier R6 was 1:35.4 in Sharkwerks 3.9L 997.1 GT3 in 2011. This was my first weekend with the RS 4.0 at Laguna.
The stock 997.2 GT3 Cup cars are turning 1:27-29 on =slicks=. (1:26 are World Challenge cars and other modified versions, Loren Begg's beast is a prototype racer that weighs ~2300lbs and has 650HP in a tube frame car. The only thing that makes it a Porsche is the engine).
At the Porsche Owner's Club 996/997 3.8L GT3 Cup or gutted/caged cars with manual transmissions weighing under 2800lbs in the top race group are turning 1:31-32 in qualifying with =slicks= (usually Yokes).
I think that in more ideal conditions and a perfect lap that a low 1:32 is possible with my setup. However, it will be quite difficult. On the other hand the track was cold as this was first session of the day and the surface had some condensation on it. Later in the morning I tried to push this hard with similar tyres but with 6 heat cycles on them and I had to make two large saves (in T5 and T6 - the video of this is quite entertaining). So I'm not leaving a lot of time of table. The only places on the lap that I obviously see that I left time on table was not entering T5 fastest enough (you can tell because I don't have to counter-steer to control the rear end) and over braking slightly for the corkscrew. T6 was near perfect as I exited at 111MPH! (my fastest ever).
Here's my best effort at Laguna in a street car:
I haven't finished properly editing my two big saves from this weekend. However, since you've asked for them, and it should make for some amusing entertainment here's the first one. I don't normally need more than one correction, bu half my wheels end up in sand and that makes the car very tricky to recover:

In the beginning of the vid you're like Babe Ruth calling the home run and which wall he's hitting over before he swings. And, you deliver. Very impressive, Jesse. You've given me a lot to study!
