Apparently a bunch of crazy Swedes are attempting a redo of Walter Rohrl's stint at the VLN last year.
The 24 Hours of Nürburgring is a great race. But to be clear, Walter Rohrl didn't run a 'stint' at the VLN race last year in 2011. He was indeed scheduled to run the 2010 VLN race with Chris Harris (EVO magazine), Roland Asch and Horst von Saurma. But a back injury forced him to cancel and he was replaced by Simon Patrick. All four of these guys ran the '10 race in a factory production .2 997 GT3 RS. They placed in 13th place overall, which was an excellent result!
Last year Manthey Racing won first overall in a Porsche 997 GT3-RSR with drivers Marc Lieb, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas & Lucas Luhr. By chance, I saw Lucas here at Laguna Seca last week as he won the ALMS race driving a Honda powered LeMans Prototype!

Thanks for the correction
It's truly impressive that this bunch of characters finished 37th in a field of 160+ cars after 133 laps... I doubt the car is still "merchandisable" after this feat though!!
