Another Street 3.8RS in 24H Nurburgring...
Apparently a bunch of crazy Swedes are attempting a redo of Walter Rohrl's stint at the VLN last year. 5 hours to go and it's holding its own in the SP7 class--within 5 laps of the lead cup car...
Look closely at this picture and you'll start scratching your head... this def ain't no cup car... street centerlocks, OEM rims, what seems to be standard cast iron brakes, "regular" aero package and no airjacks (LOL at those yellow stickers on the lower rocker panel!) And to top that off, MPSC rubber??

Awesome.
They are running 9:30's too, not bad, considering the R's are just 35 seconds quicker despite being basically fia gt3 cars
No idea about the MPSC. They MUST be on slicks. Maybe they drove the car to the track on them?

My guess is full clubsport cage with cup seats, 18" track wheels and Cup LSD.
Would like to see exhaust and suspension mods.
I guess it would be like running a slightly heavier Cup car with a 6 speed manual.
Would like to know how much faster it is compared to a 996 Cup on the ring in its day....

The car is pretty much stock. They've removed some interior stuff, mounted a FIA-approved roll cage, seat, CF-doors, springs with longer travel and of course 18" cup wheels. Only factory option on the car is lightweight battery.

I actually managed to see a glimpse of a GT3 with "street" center locks in the pitlane during the live stream (maybe it was this one, dunno, saw it before seeing this topic). They used a big torque wrench, no impact gun in sight (but they didn't do the "torque/untorque/torque" procedure, they just torqued each wheel once, in the air).
Then again, you see all kinds of things there. From airjacks + racing centerlocks such as on the SLS or R8 to the team with the Seat using a normal jack and changing 5-bolt wheels, retorqueing them by hand with a torque wrench.
