Italian is not always bad. I used to own, and track the hell out of, a 550 Maranello. Solid as a rock, helluva car.

Brit cars, OTOH......ugh

We will work on scheduling so it does not interfere with your other responsibilites.

No, not a waste of time, Mike. It'll be of real value to everyone.

Does all this mean I need to regear the 6GT3 when I take it to Orbit for the cooling repair and a couple other minor TSB's this week

The 996 GT3 has a nice 5th gear that can be used in 6th, it is a 1:1 ratio, same as 5th in my Scuderia which I consider has great gearing.

If you swap the 5th gear into 6th, there are the following gears available:

Replace the stock 1.56:1 3rd with a 1.684. Replace the stock 1.21 4th with a 1.429, and replace the stock 1.00 5th (which is now being as 6th) with a 1.174. We never downshift to 1st at a racetrack, and gearing from 2nd to 6th will be much closer and making better use of the powerband (1800rpm powerband)

Top Speed in gears and landing RPM on upshift, using the 315/30R18 Hoosier R6:

1st (stock) 48mph
2nd (stock) 84 mph 4700 rpm
3rd 108 mph 6400 rpm
4th 127 mph 7000 rpm
5th 151 mph 6800 rpm
6th 177 mph 6800 rpm

The 6GT3 comes geared way too tall , 216 mph in 6th gear makes 6th useless. If the engine is kept at 6400 rpm and above, it produces between 340whp and 366 whp up to 8200 rpm.

While servicing the box, add LWFW, and a better lsd clutch pack.

agree that a 996GT3 5th gear can be put in a 2010/2011 GT3RS as replacement for 6th gear. this takes away the useless "overdrive" current 6th gear that Porsche put in these cars to get good highway mileage for the government a-holes.

I didn't hit the Powerball yet. Need to keep the TSB's to Lottery scratch off winnings for now.

Really weather will be good?
Looks like I will go Sebring in June with Chin and homestead with PBOC with the buyer of my car and my wife's car or my new car if I can find one.

No insurance needed, those cars don't have enough power to go off track.... LOL
I need pads and fluid for sure. 4000lbs sedan will scream !!!
I guarantee that we will run over some GT3's on Hoosiers.... scary to think.

You will get in the 2:30's for sure. All I need is one hot lap, that's all.
