Purchase questions 2008 GT2/ 997.2 GT3RS
I am hoping I can get some feed back in regards to these two cars. Looking to purchase ASAP and have been looking at everything from a GTR to a 430's.
Last Porsche was a 96 Turbo that should have never been sold Sold it in 2005 with approx 10k miles on it!
So I will bring it back to the two cars. Wondering what to expect from the GT2 in terms of throttle response handling etc.Are the turbos linear or should I expect large amounts of lag. Is it a car that will throw you off the track if mistakes are made?? I know it is not the extream car the original was but is it comfortable on the street? 80% of it's time will be there.
All that being said what are the similarities and major differences between the two? I Could not think of a better group to ask so any imput you have would be great. From price point it looks like that are spot on $130k for RS 10/11 vs 08 GT2's
Cheers

I tried searching and found some info, Looks like the GT2 is easier car for everyday use. Really the GT3 VS the GT2 might be a better comparison.

Drifting
I'd have to say the throttle response with the NA cars is better.
I have not driven a stock GT2 on the track and think the .2GT3RS might have the advantage as well in handling from what I see/hear at the track.
I enjoyed my previous 2011 RS on the street however the kick in the butt feeling is always fun with a Turbo....my modified 97 TT produces similar output (fun) to the GT2.
good luck with your search, it's an exciting journey.

i own both. stock for stock the rs is faster on the track. in a drag race from 80km/h to 260km/h the gt2 only pulls on the rs after 210-220 ish. the gt2 feels numb and cumbersome compared to the rs and is muted sound wise. the gt2 power is more linear than a 996 turbo but still laggy when compared to the rs. if anything, the rs is more of an aminal on the track in terms of behaviour because of it higher limits. the gt2 is very comfy on the street, but the rs aint terrible either.

[QUOTE=TTurbine;9408282]Yep GT2 is more DD freindly and also faster on the track
Absolutely!
The best part is, for about 10k you can transform the GT2 into a car that very closely resembles the performance of a GT2 RS. Which At larger and more challenging tracks, that difference is hard to overlook.
Good luck with your choice, you can't go wrong with either.

The GT2 only pulls on the rs at around 220kmph ??? I think your car has a problem or you might be running 91 fuel which will reduce your power by approx 70-90 hp .. , a properly driven GT2 will leave the .2 3 /Rs. Zo6 , GTR etc from 2nd gear 70kmh roll till the 6th gear rev limiter in the dust.
A very important thing for the GT2 is the shift points if you shift near or at the limiter you will have lag that will effect its acceleration numbers. You need to shift at the stock shift points in the dashboard to minimize lag between gearshifts.
Regarding track performance ,
The .2 cars are setup from the factory better than the .1 GT2 , all you need is a proper alignment with the GT2 and the .2 3/RS with equal drivers won't be able to keep up with the GT2
I own both a .2 Gt3 and GT2 and my brother use to have a .2 GT3 rs before he tottaled it! So this is my first hand experiance on the track

I frequently track with a local Nordic gold 997GT2. We are both pretty much stock except suspension bits and alignment tuned by Bullet Racing.
Last time at Ridge Motorsport Track, I would say he is about 1 to 2 seconds per lap faster than me. Besides cars, he is also a more experienced driver than me.

the GT3RS if you are looking to stand out.
the GT2 if you wish to lay a little lower under the radar. Same for non RS GT3.
The GT2 is a rocket ship. With GT2RS parts it is a killer at the track.
