The cracked manifolds are a F430 problem, not a Scuderia problem. 2nd generation manifolds (headers) were introduced in late 2007 with the 2008 and newer F430.

The Scuderia uses radically different manifolds, it doesn't have the heavy pre-cats built with the headers in the F430, no cats in the Scuderia manifolds, they are lighter, and so far no problems have been reported.

I replaced my headers with Capristo, to get a little more power on the mid-range, and install the insulation jackets that help reduce the risk of fire.

ABS is a problem in the standard F430 as well. The Scuderia uses the ABS unit from the F430 Challenge, different part# compared to the F430. It is a race ABS unit, I can flat spot my tires under heavy braking entering a turn, it is not an intrusive ABS like the one in my 996/997 GT3 and Cayman. It is one of the features I like about the Scuderia.

Rad, what tires are you using and what is your personal best in the Fiat at Sebring on slicks or street tires?
Tom, Peter(Trakcar) ran a 2:18.999 that he calls a 2:18 and I call a 2:19, he has a 3.8RS modified with monoballs, aftermarket Aero, 45 lbs removed by erasing the side mufflers, and a Guards LSD. His car runs on shorter tires (245/335 shaved RA1 on 18" wheels), and the chassis is lowered from stock. His car sits around 30mm lower to the ground compared to stock.

No Aero Beetle has lapped faster on DOT tires, except the unconfirmed (I need to see data) 2:18 "jp175" claims he ran in his 4.0RS, but his non-stock 4.0RS should be 2 secs faster than Trakcar's 3.8RS, so a 2:16.999 should be feasible on RA1 and a 4.0RS (if Trakcar is doing the driving on a perfect cold and dry morning).

Trakcar's 3.8RS should be 2 secs faster than my Fiat, and the 4.0RS should be 4 secs faster than my Fiat at Sebring and Daytona.

My best at Sebring is a 2:17.5 on my autoX A6, with lots of time lost due to brake problems at T1, traffic at T17, coasting out of T10 and braking into Bishop bend. A 2:15 is feasible with my driving, working brakes and faster traffic.

I ran RE-11 and A6 at one Sebring event, the skinny 245/285 RE-11 were less than 2 secs slower per lap compared to the fat 295/345 A6.

On slicks, my Fiat should be capable of 2:13.

No info on a 300K miles Scuderia, or a 300k miles GT3.

The only reliable Fiats are:

- 599 GTO
- 430 Scuderia and 16M

The F458 still needs to come clean from a variety of tranny issues (and the unexplainable wild fires). The next generation F458 (due in 2 years) should have the tranny issues resolved, and very likely become the 3rd ever reliable Fiat.

The rest of the Fiat line-up, even the supercars, are fragile and live quite well to the reputation of being all-show-no-go.

In addition to the Ferrari Racing school 430 Scuderia, there are a few ones running by Track Clubs in Vegas and California. Coincidentally, the cars running at the Track Experience in Las Vegas Speedway have been running steel rotors replacing the stock ceramic rotors.

I did a bunch of 2:16s in slicks at WF but in traffic. A predictive would be much lower. I need 2 laps at least to warmup tires and by that time one hits traffic.

In 48 hours, I did a bunch of 2:18s in RA1s. The track ironically was slower than at the 48.

It is difficult to predict times at Sebring because track speed changes pretty dramatically depending on weather and testing

Can someone here do a YouTube video of mr hitler saying "my 4.0 is better then my secretary's scud" or vice versa- it's boring now. Why don't the parties involved do a 2-3 hr marathon and see who comes up alive- I'll buy an airplane ticket to watch that. Mike

it appears the tuned 3.8L, the stock 4.0L and Scuderia are all in the 2:18 area for Sebring.

anybody have the numbers for the Viper ACR, GTR and a ZO6?

hey, these cars don't count as they are cheaper than $130k
and they don't have deviated stitching.

There is a good database of lap times at Laguna Seca with all the cars you mention. Some tests that have been done there by various sources.

2010 Viper ACR: 1:33.915
2011 C6 Z06: 1:34.43 (MPSC)
GT2 RS: 1:35.5 (Excellence Mag, a 3.8RS tested the same day did 1:37.9)
2009 C6 ZR1: 1:35.83 (PS2)
458 Italia: 1:36.22
2011 Nissan GTR 1:36.35
Lexus LFA: 1:36.39
Audi R8 GT 1:36.39
GT3 RS 3.8: 1:36.77
Mercedes SLS: 1:38.82
2007 GT3 3.6 1:39.517
2009 Nissan GT-R 1:40.45
Audi R8 V8 manual 1:40.75
Audi R8 V8 R-Tronic 1:40.92
Mustang 302 Laguna Seca: 1:41.06
Cayman R: 1:41.64
987.2 Cayman S PDK 1:42.95
E92 BMW M3 DCT 1:42.96
987.1 Cayman S 1:47.58

that list tells me nothing other than the 987.2 cs is miles quicker than the 987.1.
