I have a 458 italia and agree the car is amazing...I have put 1200 miles on mine the last two weeks.
I am seriously thinking about trading it for a 4.0RS...here is why!
1) Deep down I love the Porsche brand and the 4.0RS is a special car.
2) The 4.0RS is a drivers car and I love to run the canyons plus occasional track day.
3) Too much attention with a yellow 458...duh
Any Rennlisters want to trade or buy...the car is officially available 2010 yellow/black 458 with 2200 miles. I paid 270k two weeks ago and would want 260k to let her go.

I kinda knew this would happen..... not this soon however...
the 458 is a great car but it is not the 458 Scuderia due out in the future....
I think your are more of a Scuderia guy as opposed to base 458 guy...
the 458 italia will the be the "Carrera" of Ferraris once the 458 Scuderia is released.....
the 458 Scuderia would have stuck around your garage longer methinks

OK, goes for Porsches too. More Cayenne's running around in Southern Europe (100,000 Euro+) then there are people reporting an income of 50,000Euro LOL.
Tax evasion is national tradition/hobby.
Feels like 2008 when briefly many people concidered it unseemly to drive around in an expensive car after firing half their employee's.
Perception is one thing. Having the IRS fater your for driving a nice car a whole other level. Flashy car prices dropping fast in Europe, combined with a devaluating Euro (Wishful thinking) might create some grey imports ones again?!

Rich, I like the color, but dont think an orange car or any car with a big spoiler on it is "subtle". I love generalities, not everyone who buys a Ferrari needs to show off. "Truth is whatever is subjectively convincing at one's current level of perception".

I slept five hours last(one more than my norm) and have decided on a 4.0 to purchase. As much as I love Jochen's orange 4.0 it will cause the same issues as my yellow 458 did(thanks car commander).
I like the diehard love to the Porsche brand on this site. I will be buying a new white 4.0 today.

That makes a new 4.0 about 100K over a pristine 3.8. That's a lot of coin extra.

White is the fastest color of course, but for $20K over I'd want an orange one so my 5K full wrap yellowing won't be noticable.
I don't think you would suffer the same 458 issues. Different car from aero beetle; Orange RS-es everywhere and only we can tell the difference between an regular $50K 997 and a $230K 4.0 and plenty of posers running the 4.0 dive planes...
Just saying, RS everybody got them in M&M colors, it's like they grow on tree's.
