Default Track Rain Tires

I am in the process of finalizing my car for Sebring next week and I am brining two sets of Hoosiers on 18in BBS wheels. My question is I only have a set on 19in BBS wheels left for this car and wanted a competition set of rain tires for these wheels... my shop said they can't find a comp rain for a 19in wheel and wants to just use an all season street tire. I've used Sport Cups and Corsa's in the wet and they are not great in the wet at all... anyone have any suggestions beside hope for no rain?

Believe it or not, R888's are pretty damned good rain tires.

Are you experienced at Sebring?
Bringing RS?

If it rains a litlle you will find the puddles as you build up speed on Hoosiers, if it rains a lot street tires are probably great, but if it rains a lot I stay in the pit stall and watch people crash over the start finish line down the front straight..

THIS is the real problem there in rain: painted surfaces

Unless you are very very experienced at Sebring and driving in the rain....stay parked

Even the racers crash on the start finish line

Too much concrete at Sebring

No this is my first trip down, I am coming down from Connecticut. I am brining my 06 Cayman S down, i just finished converting it to a track only car and wanted to try it out.

Staying off track sounds like a plan if it does rain...

Starting to think that the same applies at Mosport. Something like 4 crashes at the first DE in the rain last year. Some tracks don't do wet well. Of course, you can always tippy-toe around...

I have driven often in the rain and love it, but at tracks where I can go back easily on a sunny day, why risk it.

At Watkins Glen we drove in a giant thunderstorm all day just to learn the track the first day in the moning, but it gets sketchy fast..

Also true + they are fantastic in dry weather. As grippy as PSC's in the dry.

I've been running Kumho Ecstas street tires and they are fairly good in the rain @ Sebring.

Interesting responses to stay in the pits when it rains. While I do not prefer to run in the rain, I do enjoy the opportunity, as I can get some experience with the car moving around and I learn some car control techniques. I reviewed my videos from Winterfest and I was amazed at my ability to control the car on a dry track as it "moved" through the corners. I'm fairly certain that driving in the rain has helped me to be faster (more confidence in my ability to control car) on a dry track.

I say get some street tires and run in the rain, just don't try and set any lap records and go strait (not diagonally) accross the start/finish line and lift slightly.

Regards, Dave
