Default Question about GT2 vs Turbo S

I am in the process of upgrading from my 996 TT to either a 2012 Turbo S or a 2008 GT2.

I have been to a few track events and will be continuing tracking. What would be the better car regardless of price. Keep in mind that Turbo S is a PDK

That really depends on how serious tracking is for you. If this is just a phase that you may do 2 or 3 a year I would say buy the Turbo S. A great deal more comfortable (PDK) and it is new. If you are going to be tracking a monthly basis, I would go with the GT2. No AWD, 6 speed, lighter.....etc.......

That is my .02 cents

BTW, I am an instructor with PCA.

I've driven both often, gt2 hands down.

Turbo S is amazing but still muted compared to the GT cars, in terms of overall feel.

Turbo S is more practical, ride, back seats, less noise, etc but it doesn't sound like that is what you are looking for.

Coming from a 996TT you would be very happy w/ the feel of the 997 gt2.

It would feel like a big upgrade vs just a faster car.

Hope that helps

I'm also a instructor =)

Good luck can't go wrong with either!

Good answers here already. IMHO it ultimately depends on how you will use the car (DD / lots of street time vs. occasion / track). My preference is the GT2. It's a no-lose decision. Good luck.

Xico,

Totally different cars, and I know you said money no object, but is quite a difference between both of them.

If you're the Xico I know you have one of the nicest 996TT around here, and for track car, I would choose a GT3. Had a GT2, and know have a GT3 RS, hands down more rewarding to drive.

stick with the 2012 turbo S.

you are accustomed to AWD and will only find the GT2 more work to drive around the track compared to your 996.

I would choose the GT2 as you can see in my DP...

But it all comes down to what you really want and how will you drive the car.....

Prsactical vs fun track car.
Since the cost of purchase does not matter I would consider both.
If you only wamt one, consider the 2011 GT2Rs

Do the 2008's have TC? I had a 2004 GT2 and it was a blast to drive, really fun to full oversteer on boost, but I saw many that went into the hay bales Stay away from 4WD if you track it IMHO.
