OP:

Going from a GT2 to a GT3 on the street is going to feel numb. The torq of the turbo cannot be compared to a naturally aspirated engine. Not sure what you were expecting from a 911 that stickers less then a GT2 911 let alone a ferrari at twice the price??

The GT3 is a race motor designed to live in the redline. it is not supposed to be a wicked fast 0-60 teenager machine. But it happens to lay down a decent 1/4 time and 0-60 time for a 3.6L.
You need to drive this thing in the redline to make it come to life, period. This is hard on the street because it will have you speeding in excess.

On the street the 997.1 3.6 can feel under powered. But on the track with good tires and driver it is a weapon, hence the cult status from those who know.

Again, your knowledge is only limited to street driving all your cars thus you are missing out on what is available in these cars besides seat of the pants feel.

Im not sure how many people think street driving is a sufficient testing ground for a purpose built track car, but i know most seasoned drivers attest to a cars ability based on the characteristics on the track. Brakes, suspension, acceleration, dynamics etc...

Mountain roads are by no means a worthy or challenging test either.
I live on one of the deadliest back country mountain roads in north america and although fun, is it is still not the experience of a good track where all the real drivers test themselves and machine.

The last time i looked at a 0-60 time was in high school reading road & track..... I gave up the street theme long ago in turn for a roll cage, race license and trailer.

If you were to try the 3.8RS with the gearing and single mass flywheel you might have been a little more impressed, but then again it is a car for mature drivers therefore i do not think you can grasp the true concept of this 911.

So if anybody gave you the misconception of the car being fast, it is probably due to the track time and not the street seat of the pants time.

I can't believe I read all 7 pages of this thread.
OP: You knew what response you would get by posting this in the GT3 forum.
Great post, I agree with you 100%.
Anyone want to buy my GT3? Low price. I'm sure it will go fast...I mean slow.

I find the power of my .1 GT3 plenty enough, let alone the overall performance. I am nowhere near the performance of the car on the track.

I think if the car was about 200 lbs lighter it would be a killer for sure!

So, I went down to my gt3 this morning and saw it parked. I got into the car and drove it to work in rush hour traffic. It was SO SLOW. I mean, I could only get as high as 60mph before having to lift off because of the van ahead of me. Seriously. What a scam Porsche are running.

Reminds me of when I got into a car as an instructor at the last PC day. I asked the driver how much, if any, race experience he had. "Tons" he says. "My buddies and I would race on the highway ALL THE TIME. And the cops would catch us sometimes, then I had to call my rich father to get us out" (no joke, verbatim).

Also, on my way home about 3 weeks ago, on a tight, bumpy, curving city street, some retard on a superbike pulls up alongside me and asks me if I want to "try 0-100 race". He didn't even have a helmet.

I said "sure" and turned into my garage...

I've been passed on the track by a lot of slow GT3s in my cheater car (930) and this thread raised my curiosity as to why this was happening. I went back and looked at all of my videos and realized that I was lifting when being passed by GT3s. I'm not sure why this was happening, but it sure makes me feel better.

You guys have all been duped by Porsche and I feel bad for all of you. ... Just one more indicator that we really do live in the matrix.

I knew this was going to be a great thread btw.

Regards, Dave
