There was a guy on 6-speed that apparently worked for a dealer that was selling 3.8 lightweight flywheels a couple months back with very little mileage on them. When I asked why they were removed from the cars I was told that both cars had PP failure and they replaced everything while they had it apart.

So far running ok. About 6K miles. Probably half of them driving back and forth to the tracks (6hrs to WGI, 10hrs to VIR, 2hrs to NJMP, 1.5hr to LR, 2 hrs to Sebring)...but worried

John, add a selection box for throwout bearing failure (broken ears) and mark me for it. I think Peter had the same?

The release bearing is an old 944 part. 944.116.080.01
Used from 964s ,993s , 997.2TT , 996GT3, 997.1GT3RS etc.
I could add it to the poll, but I think it might be an isolated incident or connected with the problematic 3.8RS parts. ?
Besides this release bearing and the street GT3 guiding tube were std parts on the 996 cup cars.

'11RS...3k miles, 60% highway/break-in.
thus far no problems.
'07RS...7k miles, 100% spirited highway/back road driving,
thus far no problems.

Are you guys getting these replaced under Warranty at no cost? I think my car has a clutch problem, it smells like burnt ceramic in the garage even form light driving around town. I'm not slipping the clutch or anything. I have been hesitant to take it to P of O for fear of being Sanduskied...
