That is fast for the clutch to slip.

After my track prep shop noticed vibration in my clutch pedal and some unusual noise, I took my car to the dealer today. They confirmed T.O bearing is going bad and are replacing under warranty. He said if the disc is still good, they will just re-install it and reassemble. If it is worn, I will get to pay for a new clutch; they cover everything else. Question is whether the 4.0 clutch /FW combo has solved the disintegration problems? Would love to do the upgrade as I really enjoy the LWFW from the RS but not if it comes at the expense of another new clutch in a few thousand miles (on my dime). Dealer said he would put in whichever clutch I choose. Did not discuss future warranty implications but obviously will.

Replace all with 4.0 stuff and be done, I did not do it and the clutch with no wear stayed in only to fail in 100 miles.

I'm waiting for either the TO bearing, clutch or pp to fail on my newer RS.

Have there been any 4.0 replacement failures yet?

Not that I know, except my 4.0pp that got killed in 100 miles when the clutch went.
Replaced both again and no more trouble since.

Correct to assume this was a 3.8RS disc that self destructed?

Yup, the springs blow out, AFAIK, same part number of the 3.6. The 4.0 does not have the little hole where it cracks letting the spring out. The pp does not have the rivets that let go, proper bolts. They fixed it.

As long as you keep driving like an old lady your clutch will last forever.

Clutch went all hard then soft yesterday; weird I thought; tried it again this morning and gut instinct said drive straight to the dealer. They drove it 20 yards and the clutch pedal went solid! They are going to look at it for me but don't have parts so car out of action for at least a month.

Car had its 22,000km service not long ago and all was deemed well.

24,000km now and no track time in last two years.

Whether the replacements are done under warranty is debatable...
