I dont think we need to rekindle the manual vs auto debate again ... some want manual, some dont, as long as both are available we are all happy winners ...

I totally agree! It is F - ugly....plain and simple. Porsche threw Pana, Cayenne, and cayman spagetti on the wall and this is what stuck. I am not feeling anything good for this 991 body style like I did for the 997....

I will update my plain jane GT3 for a RS 3.8 or wait for low mileage RS 4.0 to be affordable in 2 years....

the 997GT3 will remain THE 911 until the launch of the 2013 991 GT3.

the question will be is it that much better?

It will not be until 2014 that we really know how well these 991's hold up and perform.

This gives us 997 porsche guys two years from now to think about it while we maximize our time in the current GT3.

Personally, in 2 years i maybe more interested in the 991 CUP offerings as opposed to another street GT3.
(unless the 991RS is a world beater)

One thing is for sure, I will be hanging onto my 997RS for a long time.
It will either be retired as a street car or a stripper. Depends on what the 991 GT3 street/CUP offers.....

Yes, finally someone speaks his mind! This looks like a hand-me-down wing from a 6GT3. And it disrupts the nice new back IMO. I'm not getting this one!

I hope that the new 991RS will be blindingly fast, with every mechanical and electronical assist know to man, as long as they make the residuals of the 4.0 go down faster.

I think we may be jumping the gun a little. These are spy shots after all, and in terms of looks I think Porsche will clean the car up. As is, its ugly. No doubt.

What is more important is the race-car / road car genetic line that we are all used to and love. If the 991 Cup car is better/quicker than the 997 Cup, then the GT3 should follow. Half the people on this forum have race components in their cars, sometimes direct exchanges from the race cars. But this is a unique market segment.

If Porsche sees the next GT3 as a competitor for the 458 or the R8V10, then we're in trouble. I think the GT3 is a unique car. You can line it up against a Ferrari, Lambo, Audi, Black AMG, etc. But its the odd car out. Hard to explain why, but I think it is. And thats why I bought it.
