Suncoast sells the box. Website claims fits 2010-2012 RS but I would talk to them directly.

I thought I read the intake plenum for the 4.0 is different than the 3.6 an a 3.8 , so I would think adding this OEM airbox and the correct throttle body to a 3.6 or 3.8 would not give the desired results w/o swapping all the plumbing out and then this may even be more of a issue w/o flow testing and ECU changes....and geez the price is slightly high...
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the GT3.1 airbox already breathe pretty good? I have not seen any dramatically better airbox setup from a flow standpoint for a GT3.1...has anyone else?

With a 3.6 you don't need a better airbox than stock. If you must do something then a quality panel filter (that you will never re-oil or attempt to "clean") is enough.
Now for a 3.8 -4L conversion perhaps creating a second intake would help.
This is the Manthey solution for their converted mk1 cars.

In any case whatever you do make sure that the airbox is sealed from the engine bay.

Yes, it probably makes sense to upgrade the entire intake tract if your ultimate goal is performance vs carbon bling.
Fortunately, Porsche doesn't like to make too many changes ($$) so all the parts work between the models. I was able to install several 997 intake pieces on my 996 engine, for example.

The airbox for the 997.1 GT3/RS is different from the .2 GT's. We have a unit that fits the 7.1 and it's much more reasonable than the Porsche part. Aside from the carbon construction, the 4.0 has conical filters, where as the 3.8 is a flat panel.
For the 3.8's, we'll test the unit to insure better airflow, without having to reflash or set off the CEL, before we bring it to market. We're in discussions with a noted tuner who will actually sell them.
Ours will be sealed.
