My setting were suggested to me from BGB Motorsports and Gavin at Auto Quest. Gavin works a lot with Chris Harris and Ex-TC Shocks and we all know BGB fromt eh Rolex series.
During delivery of my car I had Bert Smith my dealer install my rear toe links and front lower control arms and do an alignment to my specs....WRONG....the dealer screwed it all up so the alignment was so bad you could visually see it was offso during my roll bar install at Gavins I had Gavin string up my car and it was not even close to me specs so I suggested what BGB told me and Gavin said those are the same specs he uses to get a base line alignment...depending on driver, track and tires. Gavin said he sets up all his customers GT3/RS this way and does minor adjustments from there.

Orbit racing, I heard he did OK at Daytona before and just heard a rumor he might be racing with jeroen Bleekemolen this year.
Rodge told me I would be OK going there with my mild camber settings, but after looking at my tires he said we should have taken more camber out.

I have to tell Ralph what I need from and rear this morning.
Reter/Rad
Can you tell me exactly what I should tell Vortex this morning regarding what alignment settings I need on the Hoosiers?
I'm a little confused at this point

What did Hoosier tell you when you called them?

Peter, what was your alignment settings when you went to Daytona?
For just 1 day, I think I will be fine at -2.5 F 1.7 R. If I was doing anything more than 1 day, I would do -1 F/R.

Rear: 0.20 degrees toe-in per rear corner (2mm toe-in per corner, or 4mm total toe-in), -1.5 camber
Start the R6 at 30 psi and let them go up to 40 psi. I spoke to Jeff Speer briefly, he is one the top Hoosier representatives, he also supports us on the SCCA Solo and ProSolo. I run Hoosiers at 32-34 psi hot on a 3,000 lbs car, but Daytona requires higher pressure, I would go +8 psi on them. The A6/R6 have soft sidewalls compared to a MPSC or V710.

Reter corded his rear tires. I could have corded my rear tires in another 90 minutes.
The problem is not hidden by running brand new tires and too much negative camber, because most of the load will be in the inside edges on the banking, so even a new tire will be support too much load on one area of the tire. Ideally you want this load to be distributed evenly, and you also want a tire with a high load rating.
I don't think you can get -1.0 rear camber on a 997 GT3 unless you modify the eccentric bolts or install a custom made LCA.

Well, it Reter corded his rears, then all of us are screwed. He runs RA1, and to my knowledge his rear setting is -1.7. I am running a similar tire which is a R888.
From all the posts, if I kept the camber at -1.5 all around with R888 and proper tire pressure, I would be fine

Take an extra set with you. 2 days at Daytona and my brand new R888 are more than 1/2-3/4 used up.
I have Sebring this weekend and they will probably be about done with heat cycles from driving to and from the track and track use...no other street driving.

Just got off the phone with Hoosier. Very helpful. They emailed over the official settings for the R6 tire. Not applicable to the R100. The settings for the caymans are identical to the GT3.
While alignment settings are important, he couldn't stress enough about tire pressure. He suggested that we start at 32psi and shoot for the magic 40-42 all day. It cut and pastes a little weird from the PDF. Happy to email it to anyone that wants a copy. These settings have been revised after last weeks Daytona mishaps.

As we approach our year end event at Daytona Speedway November 9 - 13, it is important to follow the suggested air pressure and camber settings using the “CAYMAN “ tire provided by Hoosier Racing Tire. Hoosier Tire Representative Jeff Speer will be present to record tire temperatures and offer setup recommendations at this event.
If you have any questions before this event, please call Hoosier Racing Tire.
