Prices for a 2010-11 GT3
Hi everyone, I am a new member to the forum. Can anyone share actual purchase prices for a 2010-11 GT3? I am looking to buy a mint, black/black, <3kmi, 2010-11 GT3… I don't want a tracked car. I'll be driving the car just on weekends.
Many Thanks!
Many Thanks!

So why then do you want a GT3? Look at a Carrera S or Turbo instead. The are a lot softer and more comfortable for the weekend driver. With a GT3, you get a much stiffer suspension, clutch pedal, shifter, very noisy track oriented brake pads and very rapidly wearing on the street track tires. You will never experience the brilliance of what makes a GT3 a GT3 on the street.

For track day use is a great car, for 100% daily driving is just a pain for people used to just street driving.

Not a weekend car, too stiff for normal roads, too loud for normal driving, and the low aero front bumper will make you struggle with this car. Get a 2011 Carreras S with PDK, great car, or a Turbo/Turbo S if you want more power.

What is this? We now have GT3 track police?
Anyway, the 2010 is heavy and too soft as a weekend car.
Get one with a nose lift and then It needs a lightweight exhaust, bucket seats, half cage, and a better suspension / links.

I must be an anomaly

that said, it might be tough to find one that has not been tracked.
in any case, good luck sir!

Since everyone here seems hell bent on telling the OP what to do with his money, I'll take a stab. Last 5 Manheim wholesale sales:
8/24 $91,500 14,234m white
7/21 $97,750 2,790m black
7/7 $102,500 880m orange
7/5 $97,000 5,672m black
7/1 $90,500 7,555m white
Add 5-10% to that based on how quickly the dealers want to move them. Private party sales, probably around these values. Nice way to welcome a new member guys. Think of it this way: if he buys one and hates it, there will be a nice cheap car for another track rat to pickup.

each to their own... The current crop of GT3s have been tamed enough to be enjoyed on the street as weekenders, no problems... Not everyone want to or can even extract their potential even on the track... The sensory experience of a GT3 would be enough for me to choose it over a Carrera anytime!
To the OP, if you've test driven and you like, go for it.... Sorry, can't help with pricing unless you're planning to buy one in Oz where we get raped on price...

10 GT3, kyrocks, richk, NJ-GT, 911SLOW, sin911, MarkD, ChrisF, 911rox - Thank you all for the sobering thoughts and numbers. Please, hear me out and tell me what you think...
For a year or so, my heart has been saying to go with the GT3, but my brain has been telling me to get the higher clearance 911 Turbo because of the bad roads in Massachusetts – ramps, bumps, pot holes, driveways, etc. But, I love the sound, racy looks, sensation, excitement, and the visceral responsiveness that a GT3 can bring over the turbo. Since I am close to the city, I am only looking for cars with a Front Lift System.
I've never driven a GT3 nor a 911TT, but have driven a 550 Maranello, Cayman, and a Corvette GS, and I felt the ride too soft, unresponsive, and uninspiring. I am not looking for a boulevard cruiser, nor a daily driver, since I have 2 other vehicles for that purpose. I don't want to get bored quickly because I intend to keep it for >10years. I don't mind trading off a little practicality for racy looks and feel, but don't want something too impractical -- a true dilemma!
Questions:
1. What kind/type of noise do the brakes make on the street? They're not smooth?... How about the PCCB?... Is it objectionable?
2. Do you recommend using different tires which hold up better for street only use?...
3. How stiff is the suspension on the GT3 even with the Sport setting off?...
4. I am curious if there's a lower wing for the GT3 that looks less juvenile? The GT2 size wing looks perfect; can it fit on a GT3?...
5. The Turbo sounds like an electric fan at best, what can I do make it sound more like a GT3 if I went with a TT?...
6. Any other quirks I should be aware of?...
Thanks Guys!

1 The brakes squeal. They're powerful and smooth, but the noise is a little annoying
2 Pilot Super Sports or Bridgestone RE11 are good alternatives
3 It is stiff and low, not unbearable but annoying over non smooth roads
4 The aerodynamic balance will be totally screwed. Considering the front bumper of the .2 GT3/RS puts down more down force than the .1 I wouldn't mess with the wing
Don't forget the stiff clutch of the GT3. The reason why I recommended GTS is because it's in between a GT3 and a Carrera S.It sits 10mm lower than the regular S. You do not need the stiff suspension or aero on the street. The GTS is responsive both in handling and power, trust me. I had a Carrera S with X51 engine and even though it was .1 it was powerful and responsive.
Trust me and test drive a GTS I'm sure it will exceed your expectations

Below 5k rpm the car is pointless, gutless, noisy for no reason.
Over 5k rpm the car is, simply put, the reason why we buy these cars. Unfortunately unless you really, really, really, really, really (really) like 1st and 2nd gear, you will be travelling at quite illegal speeds in MA. Actually 2nd is enough to land you a citation.
I'll tell you this though - when I bought my 997.1 gt3, I had "planned" to track it 4-6 times a year. Just for kicks. Didn't want to take it too seriously. Its a road car.
I'm now up to 10 track days in 2011, with 6 more already booked till the end of the year. Expect to get sucked in...
