Default Recommend an easy set-up lap timer?

I am looking for a lap timer, GPS-based, that is easy to hook-up (i.e. I can do it myself in a reasonable amount of time). I am looking for simplicity and don't need a whole lot of features. The fewer wires the better. My track car is a 2010 GT3, and I only go to 2 tracks, though expect to expand to about 3-4. Thanks in advance for any help.

The newest unit on the market that is an all in one easy to use Data logger/Lap Timer. And the capabilities of it for the price are awesome.

I would not recommend the Gtech pro from Telsa Electronics. I ordered one when it arrived I noticed they had charged me twice. After some phone calls that was corrected. I plugged the unit in using the supplied 12 volt outlet cord and it shorted the protective fuze. After several more phone calls they sent a replacement 12 volt power cored and plug. As soon as it was plugged in it too shorted the protective fuze. I have used that same outlet in the car before and after with other devices and no issues. At that point I asked that they issue a call tag and refund my money. Their answer was for me to send it back and they would refund my money and postage. I did. They did refund the cost of the unit but not the postage. The gentleman at their tech support is excellent BUT their product basically junk as evidenced by my problems. Guess what the power cord is produced in ... you guessed it China. I have heard nothing but good words about Trackmate but I have also heard the learning curve is steep.

If you have a phone you can run apps on Harry's Lap Timer Pro is pretty amazing for the $15 - $20 it costs. I do not have it but have friends that do and it is very good and the times are in sync with my transponder.

Anyways, it works quite well, gives lap times, allows for predictive laps and is easy to get to do the basics... Using the software is more complicated but it allows for full data logging and analysis of data... Pretty good for a beginner unit... Happy for the moment.

Thanks! They're the only product available locally here, so I guess Driftbox it is!

(they don't have the performance box.

I am using the Performance box from Racellogic and it is superb! Most magazines and Top Gear using them as well.

If you have an Android based phone, try Trackmaster.

Thanks for the help--already downloaded Harry's App, and liking the AIM product so far. BTW, MDrums, nice kit--DW, Zildjian, new heads--sweet. I have a DW set, now just need to practice more.

I have to say the phone apps are nice but not even close to the Performance box's accuracy. Not to mention the data logging and analysis available on the P. box

I agree with Seth. The new Aim unit is really nice and a powerful learning tool.

I have used PerformanceBox for three years now and it is bulletproof. Simple to use as a lap timer and has powerful software for complete data logging/analysis. Also, with only a suction cup windshield mount, it is easy to move from car to car. I have even mounted the suction cups to the back of my passenger seat for DEs at The Glen and Mid-Oh where lap timing was banned, worked perfectly. Great product for the cost and simplicity. It would be nice to have synchronized video, but my stand alone GoPro HD works well enough.
