Default Lower Control Arm Thrust Bushing Install?

As seen in this picture is the the correct angle to have the thrust washer with the 3 holes in?

My installer said no and installed the thrust bushing going side to side (short side to short side) of the arm and mounted the bolt in the center position.

Anyone???

You will know where it goes when you do your caster swing/check for tire clearances Your alignment guy will know where to set it. We had to monkey with mine to fit the oversized hoo..., umm, never mind...

The center hole is the "stock" non-adjustable position.. when you want to adjust for your caster, then you use the hole on the outside and rotate it around to adjust the caster. (Eccentric adjuster) That's my understanding.

Of course, you can also get adjustable thrust arms too.

Looks like you've already spent the money but based on my experience you're better off leaving the stock thrust arm bushing and just replacing the tension/compression link. Makes adjustments much easier and more precise, and removes any issue with bushing creep.

One can always just use the center hole.. (and adjust through the adjustable links you mentioned) The price of adjustable bushing vs. non-adjustable one isn't that much different, so there's not a huge "loss".. !

Mike, just checked mine at Vortex, and it seems to be at the angle of yours pictured above. George said it changes when you do your caster setting. I am set at 8 degrees all around....

The center hole is not center...it is 4mm off center so when you move the thrust bushing around in a circle the caster changes even when in the so called center position.

Thanks for the info, didn't realize the "center" hole is actually off center.. !

I wonder if it is the same for other brands as well.. Mine is getting Tarret units at all 4 at the shop as we speak..
