Default Track day: Mission Raceways (video)

Great day, no rain, diverse cars. I focused on GT3's for this clip and I haven't driven Mission with the new configuration for turns 7,8, and 9. I think I started to figure it out towards the end of the day.

- Love looking at the 7.2 RS' from the rear.
- Brian's orange 7.1 RS was quicker than I was.

Looking forward to the next track day! Always fun.

Short really - tight turns and a lot of concrete. I hit about ~205km/hr on the straight and 150mph (I back off when I hit 150mph) on the straight at Pacific. Have not been to Oregon, so I can't say.

Mission:

right - left - left - left - right - left - left - right - left - straight - repeat.

about 1.20 a lap in GT3.

Very small. Limited passing opportunities.
Great for learning and refreshing skills.

I enjoy it as a local track.

1:20? 1:16's for me with worn out shocks and tires.

No way can I hit 205km/h. I'm down on power compared to the newer cars though. When I hit 1:16's, my max speed has been about 112mph (~180km/h). Data logged - not wildly inaccurate speedo.

If you can get past the concrete, it really is a good learning track and there are a couple good groups that run track days there. I'm hooked on ORP now so I don't get to Mission much anymore.

I have asked about mission in the past and have been unanimously advised that it is not worth driving to from Seattle...

The thing with Mission and being such a short track, on regular track days it's very easy to always be caught behind someone. As Allan noted there are a couple open lapping groups where the number of cars is pretty limited and I have a lot of fun on those days.

The tracks south of the border are better yes, but for a 40 minute drive and a day away from the office it's fun.

I would agree. With ORP, PR, PIR and Spokane - there's no need.

I was a passenger with Kees driving one of the 911 turbo race cars. Not sure what the lap times were but it was smoking fast. I think he did 1:11's in that car during a race. No way we'd ever do that with my, ummmm...."ballast" in the passenger seat.

I should ask Marlon how quick he was in the 600whp GTR on slicks... I felt like a parked car.

Mission is great with PDC - Performance Driver's Club (Disclosure: I was an exec there in the past).

interesting data for the 3.8. In the 3.6 i can grab 200kms max on the straight in mission before pounding the brakes.

I can't remember if Marlon and I ever shared the same run group at a track day. If so, I've passed every GTR I've come across at Mission. That's not the case at other tracks. I need to talk to Sharky.

How is PDC now with DU running the show? I've joined PDC a few times but never got around to attending a track day with them.

Like I said before....180km/h max with my slow car. I really do need to talk to Sharky. I've ordered Hoosiers and now with Motons replacing the worn out OEM shocks things should be a little different. 1:15's should be easy and maybe, just maybe, if the nut behind the wheel stays tight 1:14's might be possible.
