Also in TT you almost never have traffic. 10 cars on track sent out by lap time guy in front of you is faster guy behind is slower you usually get 2-3 free laps before you catch the back markers.

I'm hoping I can get my Race car back together in time to be down there running in PT. If not I'll come down and help out with the TT tech inspections or bum a co-drive.

cbweaver nailed it though when he said that he only runs the car for 15 minutes. this is how it should be done. it's the last 5 minutes of the session where mistakes happen when the tyres/brakes have 'gone off'and you can feel the car squirming around. a lot of wear and tear happens in this last 5 minutes.
good method of conservation of all things mechanical and human methinks.

In Time Trials it's pretty typically one and Done. The car is usually fastest on it's first hot lap so long as you get the needed items up to temp. Running TT in the Mini cooper it was an exorcise of keeping things cool on the outlap and laying down the flyer. Running A6's with the heat and heating up the intercooler the car would fall off about a second a lap so you had to make the first one count but A6's come on so quick you could wait till Turn 17 to start going.
Running R6's was tricky cause you needed to warm the tires up without warming the motor up much. She only ever did one lap at sebring and last summer did a 2:27.4.

It's 1 and done for the aliens in the group of TTr's. A normal person like me usually gets fastest on the 2nd or 3rd lap.

Ian you need to point out that there is FREE beer after the track goes cold on Sat. That ought to get Randy and Peter interested.

Free beer always gets attention. NASA Florida has free beer and pizza @ the Sat awards right after track goes cold, like the beer Of course you have to participate to guzzle.

Loved it will be back when it is cooler. Coming under the bridge to turn 12 is tricky and turn 2 is a leap of faith on turn in.

I haven't done NASA in a while.

I submitted my track credentials including Time Trial license with POC and over 100 track days, and they stuck me in HPDE-3 with a group of really rookie drivers (have them on videos). On my first trip to PBIR I was a few tenths off from breaking all the TT class records (all classes), in my almost stock Fiat on 2 year old tires.

Then took a test to move up to HPDE-4, passed, but from all the instructors at the event, there was not one available for a check ride, to let me run HPDE-4. So, I'm stuck in HPDE-3, far away from even being allowed to run a Time Trial.

I have not run with NASA since 2008 and signed up for 2 events in July, both HDPE4.

Just e-mail chief instructor ahead of time next time?

Rad,

Check your ego at the door. NASA Florida is not wrong to require a check ride before advancing anybody to HPDE4 open passing with no point bye. By the way Chin also requires a check ride to advance and they don't do them after 1430. You would be the 1st to complain if somebody claimed??? a lot of experience, they put them in HPDE4/TT and then dive bombed you in a turn and took you out. This is not saying you aren't qualified as I know you are.

Peter
