Default "White lightning" project - 07 GT3 RS.

After weeks of waiting I finally got to see and drive my new to me RS. It is like a new car (only 109 miles on the clock) and as good as I hoped it would be. Rothsport Racing have done a great job with stage one of the project which included:

Full Clubsport interior - seats, harnesses, steering wheel, roll cage, etc
Partial interior delete – carpet and radio
Suspension – Cup/RSR hardware, JRZ RS Pro shocks with 600/800 springs
Brakes - AP/Wrightwood Racing front rotors and Cup rear ducts
Champion RS61 Magnesium wheels with Hoosier R6 tires

I was at Thunderhill last weekend (with my 996 Cup for the Pirelli Drivers Cup and Western Endurance Racing Championship) and this gave me the chance to do a few laps in the RS. The car is fantastic with razor sharp handling. Because of the low mileage revs were kept down. The potential was obvious and once the car is finished and run in I’m sure it will be very fast.

The next stage has begun and Rothsport are now doing:

996 Cup transmission/LSD/clutch with sequential shifter
M&M titanium exhaust with BMC air filter and ECU remap
Manthey carbon doors and door panels
Getty carbon hood, Cup rear deck lid/wing and rear bumper
Trunk lining delete
Lightweight battery relocated to the trunk floor

All of this will be done by the time I get to PIR for the Rose Cup next month. Then finally the engine will be converted to a 4.0 stroker with individual throttle bodies.

I’ll take detailed photos of the car in Portland and provide another update then.

Saw this car last weekend - very nice. This is going to be a monster. I'll paraphrase Mark, "200k for a 4.0 RS? Yeah right. For +100k, I'll make a better one!"

I don't doubt it! Looking forward to the updates.

MarkGt3- great project!!! I have a question. I take it that your putting a cup sequential into RS. Now just wondering with regards to 997 cup since it is sequential can a manual cup tranny be bolted on? I know I know it's a downgrade but can it be done? Thanks. Mike

If the roll cage does not have door bars, think very hard about whether you want to go to CF doors....

Amazing project. Can't wait to see more. Mark - don't forget to add grill screens. That's a must.
