Ok fellas, been out and pulled up the carpet behind the rear seats... No plates welded in! The clubsport package is an option in our market. It was not an option I took...

It may have been a policy for Porsche to weld them in for all ROW cars in earlier models but it certainly ain't the case with the 997.2 range or I would have them...

ps. Don't feel short changed, I paid Aus$300k+ and didn't get them... The prices you guys pay comparitively are highway robbery compared to the ROW...

Eventually they may get their crap together... We'll see.

Yes, but you come from the land down under. Where women glow and men plunder. Hence you should pay more...

Actually it was never a policy. From the '99 mk1 GT3 only clubsport specced cars had the plates. If you ordered a comfort model you wouldn't get them.

Same for 996 mk2 and same for the 997 series.

The only known exception from the rule was the plates found in some US RSs, probably to cover demand Porsche used RoW spec tubs and built the US /Canada cars on them in the beggining.

It is clearly a cost issue as the '99 GT3 when it all started was mostly hand assembled and probably cutting down 3 hours of labor for welding those plates in each car that was not supposed to use the cage, made financial sense.

ps pls don't start with country specific price lists. I think our socialist government has the current record.. around 400K EUR for the 4L RS.. power to the people : )

There you go- we have an answer then I suppose... Nobody gets plates unless they order a rollcage. For our US friends, since you can't have the cage from the factory, at least you get stiffed on the plates and pay only half the price Nonetheless, i hope they just make it a standard feature for all to be able to upgrade if/when they choose...

John, at €400k, you guys definitely take the cake... I think u should move to Germany or similar champ...
