Way too many references, including some by Mooty himself elsewhere. What happened?

Savy, everyone - why would you remove air-con? It seems pretty important to me, also given that some series have it mandatory by the regulator.
I agree with everything else - lightweight headlights, radio delete, Li-ion battery.
White, black interior, GT silver wheels.

Best, w

Feel free to show me a signed buyers order and prove me wrong.

With that said I surely hope my friend CarreraGT finds one at under and I will be glad to eat my words.

Still tough to justify. Most owners will use these as dual purpose cars, and would be hard pressed to extract a 6 second differential at any track, let alone the ring. I think having the extra mid-range would be nice, and that's the difference in time at the 'ring, but not for $35,000+/- over what I paid for the 3.8.

In spite of my brain fade in my post I know to get the order form correct! Wouldn't that be a kick to the jewels to have ordered *** when you meant carbon buckets? Whew...I would need a padded cell for a few weeks.

Lol, poor Mooty. No, this was a different and much worse burning rear end. I will let him relay whatever he may or may not choose to

Mr. Wurlie- 40lbs? 50 lbs? Much of it in the a s s. The 4.0 is the ultimate street legal track weapon from the crazies in Weissach. Herr P is weight obsessed (while recognizing most buyers won't pay $50k for another 20-30kg). I feel it is appropriate to honor their efforts by speccing mine as the creator intended.

1. Limited edition
2. The only street legal 4.0 to ever come from Porsche
3. A factory tested 4.0 with appropriate modifications to make it bulletproof.
4. Various carbon body parts.
5. Solid suspension where appropriate.

No disrespect intended however in my opinion ~$35k difference is the bargain of this decade (so far) for an amazing car.

No disrespect taken, or returned, for that matter. Considering that you have the performance spectrum covered, I'm surprised at your interest. Having said that, if I had the means, perhaps my position would be different.

How do you arrive at $35K?

I said $35,000. That's only because my 3.8 was +/- $150,000, and the base 4.0 is $185-ish. Pete was just responding to my post.

Thanks. Guess we'll have to wait for the "other" one. Hope it's not too bad

All the options are the same, so if you order an RS 40 with the same options then it will still be $50K more...actually more than that as you have the additional sales tax on that $50K plus the higher Gas Guzzler tax. One more adder to that is you won't even get $135k for your RS when you trade it in. A higher sticker does not unfortunately mean a high resale.

Why skip the radio, the decent headlights or a pair of cup holders? This is a street car after all. Will deleting these options actually make you faster? There is not a driver on these forums that 20 lbs of weight is going to make a measurable difference. It you really want a stripped track car, why waste your money on an RS 40 when for the same money you could just buy a new GT3 cup? The RS 40's substantially higher price tag really changes the economics of stepping up to a cup.

+1, if I wanted to strip 20lbs off of my car, I'd stop eating meat and drinking red wine!

i like your syle! you only live once, do it properly without compromise!

-sorry to hear about mooty's stripper - i love that car.
