Default GT3 RS 4.0 at MSRP (or better)

I hear that USA dealers received their initial allocation of the 4.0 RS today.

If you discovered a spare allocation from a trustworthy dealer at msrp, no nonsense, then please post here or contact me directly if you're so inclined as to offer me the favor.

Thanks in advance.

And to others shopping around for a square deal, happy hunting!

All good things will come to those who wait... Lots are interested, but I will bet that there will be unfilled allocations. I call for 10-15k under sticker in the end for unsold cars

Hmmm, under sticker didn't happen with GT2RS and many sold for over sticker. I find it impossible to conceive of the possibiity of any of the 150 or so 4.0's not being presold well in advance much less selling for 10-15k under. Just not going to happen. Feel free to show me a signed buyers order and prove me wrong.

With that said I surely hope my friend CarreraGT finds one at under and I will be glad to eat my words.

Just kidding!

While I don't see $10K or anything under msrp beyond some padding on the trade-in valuation or free freight or maybe a discount on a second set of wheels, I do see the same pattern unfolding like the 2RS. Only this time, the 4.0 is getting high profile, center stage marketing ahead of being available for order. Conversely, the 600 units of the 4.0 is simply 20% more supply than the 500 units of the 2RS, which was not a sell-out success (there's still cars out there, new and "used" with the buyer controlling the market.)

Also in favor of the procrastinator or would-be savvy negotiator is the absence of variables in the car -- it's really only black or white, it's really a car that can't be "hurt" by the options (much as I'd rather a stripper with lighweight headlights, lightweight battery and delete the "best little ***** house in Texas" red velvet cabin trim) these things are not deal-breakers. Burden the car with Nav -- no biggee. Extra leather or carbon cabin trim -- easily discounted.

So I can leave my run late and just about any option list will be fine.

Hopefully my local dealer with get a second car, but with only one coming and there's always a customer higher on the pecker order than me, I need to put another iron in the fire.

The one thing I won't do is pay a premium to any dealer that would try to gouge.

MSRP is fair and square.
I know first hand of one 2RS that sold new at a discount, but nowhere near $10K. I don't know first hand of anyone that paid over, but the rumors are there.
I know of one buyer prepared to pay over for the 2RS and was set to suffer the gouge for a car off eBay, but then found one to his liking and the dealer agreed to sticker.
I think PCNA is learning a trick or two about protecting their customers and regulating their dealer network with the carrot instead of the stick. Here's hoping the 4.0 process goes smoothly. I think this 4.0 is one worth getting, but not at any price.

Good luck with the that. Interest is high and the wait for the next GT3 will be long. Lots of rumors will circulate but discounts will be few and far between IMHO.

And that is what will determine who has the power. Whether the buyer or seller... Game of chicken...?

Good luck Adam, and try to keep the emotions at bay (yeah, I know, much easier said than done, well for me at least).

A lot of 3.8l RS's sold under sticker. Even with discounts, there are some that took months to sell. I even know of a GT2 RS that sold at a discount. It stickered at $270k and sat at the dealer for over a month unsold. It all depends on how many people are willing to pay the price. 200-250 of the RS 40s are coming to the US. If people step up and take the allocations then they will all sell at or above sticker. If most of the cars arrive at the dealers uncommitted, then you will see discounts. Although there is a lot of buzz on this forum about the RS 40, there are not a lot of people willing to pay $50k over a 3.8l RS to get one.

I've seen better. I saw one with $165k sticker (paint to sample) sell for over $10k off. With normal options, destination and the significantly higher gas guzzler tax (fuel economy is a lot worse), expect the sticker of an RS 40 to be $190-195k for a low option car and $210k+ for a high option (PCCB, PCM, full leather, etc.). If you even out the options, an RS 40 will be slightly higher than the sticker of a GT2 back in 2008.

Low option car example:

Exterior Color B4 Carrara White $0
Interior Color 28 Black Standard Leather Seats $0
Exterior P12 Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor $690
XUB Headlight Cleaner Cover in Exterior Color Exclusive $295
Performance 474 Front Axle Lifting System $3,490
Wheels 430 19" GT3 Wheel Painted White with Center Lock $0
Interior 555 3-point belt Black $0
585 Cupholders $0
810 Floor Mats in Interior Color $0
P03 Sport Bucket Seats $0
Audio and Communications 490 Sound Package Plus $700
619 Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone Interface $0
870 Universal Audio Interface $0
Destination Charge Amount $950
Vehicle price $191,125

High option car example (typical of dealer specced cars):

Exterior Color A1 Black $3,140
Interior Color 28 Black Standard Leather Seats $0
Exterior 191 Lightweight Lithium-Ion Battery $1,700
603 Dynamic Cornering Lights $690
P12 Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor $690
XUB Headlight Cleaner Cover in Exterior Color Exclusive $295
Performance 450 Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) $8,840
474 Front Axle Lifting System $3,490
Wheels 430 19" GT3 Wheel Painted White with Center Lock $0
Wheel Accessories 349 Wheels painted in Black $325
Interior 555 3-point belt Black $0
585 Cupholders $0
810 Floor Mats in Interior Color $0
P03 Sport Bucket Seats $0
Interior Alcantara CLM Rear Section of Center Console Alcantara(R) Exclusive $1,880
Interior Aluminum XXZ Footrest in Aluminum Exclusive $250
Audio and Communications 490 Sound Package Plus $700
619 Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone Interface $0
640 Sport Chrono Package Plus $690
870 Universal Audio Interface $345
P23 PCM 3.0 with Extended Navigation $3,110
Destination Charge Amount $950
Vehicle price $212,095

Don't forget Gas Guzzler tax. This is another $3700-4500. Ouch!
