Default Roadtrip!

Well, history repeats itself.... 25 years ago I drove a 356 cab from California back to Iowa with my dad... 2 year ago I drove back from NC to Iowa with my oldest son to bring his Cayman S home... now, he and I are bringing back my "new" GT3 from Tennesee to Iowa this weekend. Going to double the miles on it as it only has 800 miles on it now! Good way to break it in!!
Got my "tools" on the way from Tooltopia but won't be taking them through airport security- so hopefully no issues on the way home!

Pictures to follow- 2010 Carrara white- can't wait!

Road trips are great!
Hope the weather worked out in your favor, it's quite
nasty out there.

I've been watching the weather pretty carefully and it has been REAL nasty- hopefully that blows through by this weekend!!
(wish the car had real time radar like my Ford truck!!) (then again, I really don't want a Porsche to have all the "stuff" my truck has...)

I love reading posts and seeing pics/videos of members' road trips. Especially as I am interested in the GT3.2 as a potential purchase myself. Looking forward to hearing about it. Should be a great experience for you. Enjoy!

My son loves to take pictures so we should have many to choose from- but we are in a hurry to get it home, so we can clean and wax it...
Gotta put some RainX on it before we leave though- no roadtrip without that stuff!!

My trip in the '80's with my dad in the 356 was very memorable. It stumbled about 30 miles into the trip and we both looked at each other hoping it was nothing, and it was. And of course, we missed a tornado in Kansas by about 5 miles- we were just getting ready to stop for the night as those 6 volt headlights weren't that hot in heavy rain at night!! But we made it home in one piece and didn't have to use any of the spares we'd taken with us on the plane ( distributor, fan belt, etc). Driving a 30 some year old car you had just bought across country probably wasn't the smartest thing I'd ever done, but it sure was fun driving across New Mexico with the top down!!

Congratulations on the new pick up. Hope you get to put some track miles on that new GT3 soon so that she can be properly be broken in! My daughter and I had a very similar experience with my first Porsche. We flew out to San Diego and drove our C4S all the to Atlanta. A truly memorable experience.

Will be a fun trip! Two weeks ago we went and got my 993 in Little Rock....now the GT3. I couldn't sleep the night before we left for my car, so why do I have a feeling you will be up at 2 AM on Saturday wanting to get to the airport early!?

So it starts with our flight (with tight connections through Detroit) delayed 3 hours!! Check the flight status before we leave for the airport. Quickly my son finds different flight and connections with longer layover through Atlanta- only problem- it leaves in less than an hour!! Somehow we make it to the airport and through a somewhat long security line (at 5:30am) and make the flight hoping this isn't the start of a bad day....
Get to the dealership about 45 minutes later than we originally thought ( a LOT better than it seemed at 5am) to find this

Sign some papers, put on RainX and hit the road...

13 1/2 hour trip home- amazing car- doesn't skip a beat and we don't need to talk to any cops along the way- our V1 saved us going around Indianapolis and Peoria!! For a car like that the ride is pretty tolerable- only minor issue on the road is roadnoise from the tires on certain pavement, so you just turn up the radio!!

Plan on spending some time here over the next few weeks...

Glad to rejoin the GT3 club!! Now to go play with the new tools from Tooltopia...
