Default AutoQuest / Gavin

I wanted to give anyone in the Florida are a heads up on a class act.

While at Sebring this weekend Chris Harris (while working with Gavin) drove my car and noticed the right rear toe was out. There are limited shops in Orlando that work on or know anything about GT3's to do an accurate alignment.

Gavin is the owner of Autoquest and has a GT3 shop in Ft Meyers, Fl......quite a ways from Orlando.

Gavin called me Monday, set up two techs to come to my house and align my car, rotate top hats and install time certs for the rear caliper. They are on their way now, and will work tonight to get it done in my garage so I can leave in the morning for Roebing / Atlanta / VIR

Now that is customer service

Hat's off to AutoQuest. During my search for a GT3, Gavin was one of the people that took the time to speak with me (although we had never met). Top notch guy and company!

Mike, what alignment specs are you running now? stock Carrera S suspension? stock control arms? stock sway bars?

Thanks for the help....just got an alignment last week.

Carrera S
GT3 Lower Control Arms...everything else is stock

FRONT
-2.5 Camber per side
Zero Toe per side

REAR
-2.2 Camber per side
.12 degrees toe per side

I just increased camber all around up from 2.2 front and 1.9 rear, trying to get more grip. Rear tires outer edge was wearing faster than other parts of the tire. Also I decressed rear toe from .16 degrees per side down to .12 degrees per side because I was told this will help.

997 Carrera S suspension flexes a lot, much more than a GT3 because of more rubber in the bushings. Some GT3 bushings are metal while the Carrera has rubber.

The Carrera needs more static negative camber than the 997 GT3.

I would setup the car at -2.5 rear camber, -3.0 front, 0.25 toe-in per rear corner (0.50 total), and 0.10 toe-out in the front (0.20 total). Check tire pressures and temperatures, and fine tune the camber but not touching the toe settings.

Tire sizes, 245 front 305 rear. If running a 255 front then a 315 rear. If running skinny tires, then 235 front and 295 rear.

You can place a GoPro camera (I have one just for that purpose) to evaluate whee/tire loads during cornering, combined with tire pressures and temperatures, you can get to the ideal camber setting for the tires you use.

Yep, definitly lots more flex. Even though I have the stiffer Sport PASM for the Carrera S the car still leans over in a lot of turns, more than GT3's.

I'm running CCW 9x18 and 12X18 wheels with 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 rears.

So you are saying I have too little rear toe???
