Default I'm Disappointed,... (997.2 GT3 delievered)

... that Sam didn't get to keep his 2010 997.2 Meteor Grey GT3!!! I'm not sure how you can go to a C63 from such a car. Come back soon!!!

So:

I just took delivery of the car today. However, I only had a chance to drive it through rush hour traffic *YAWN*. I realized how weak my left foot was from not driving manual for years. However, it was fun.

I just came back from a quick drive with the car to take some pictures,...

First Impressions: This car just leaves me speechless. For the money we pay, this is a LOT of car. This car feels more raw compared to my memories on my 997.1 RS and non RS. Having the Sharkwerks center muffler delete certainly made the car come alive. Handling is more immediate than my memories in the 997.1's and the clutch heavier than my 997.1 RS (which I found lighter than the 7.1 non-RS).

Looks: This car is a real beauty,... I've seen pictures and only seen one in real life. However, this car is just hands down beautiful. Simple and purposeful. I really could not be happier.

Drawbacks: Two for me at first impression. When I heal and toe, the rest of the car seems to want to go go go,... however, the heavier flywheel and slower falling of the RPM's doesn't match my expectation with the rest of the car's sportiness. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it is unexpected (I know an RS would solve my problems).

Second issue,... I scrape the new Cup front lip from GMG at entry/exit from my condo. It's a sad sound, but I hope I won't roll over my front lip like I did in my 996.2 GT3.

Sam - THANK YOU SO MUCH for a fantastic and easy transaction. I really hope you get back to a GT3 soon. This is the best car I've ever owned. Unquestioned.

Nice
You did buy a lot of beautiful car for the $$!

the heavier flywheel and slower falling of the RPM's doesn't match my expectation with the rest of the car's sportiness
You can always install the RS fly wheel. No big deal.

RS flywheel and pulley might satisfy your shifting habits, but it will come together on the track -- road speeds don't let you have enough brake pedal pressure or rate of deceleration to match the down-shifts as neatly as on the track.

Those chin spoilers hold up pretty well and they're a not particularly expensive "wear item."

Be sure to put the dust caps on to protect the hubs.

Nice profile shot with eery colors ...

SSTHO,

Nice car. Best of luck. If you could would you have bought a GT3 RS instead?
How expensive is it to install RS flywheel and pulley?

Congrats on finally receiving your GT3. It's a beautiful car. You took some nice shots from the Wet Coast! I I especially like the side profile shot colours.
I am still a ways away from getting back into a Pcar, but hopefully this fall or next spring. So, I would find it helpful to hear about your experience. eg. How was the transport, import, etc. ? Which carrier did you use, and did you get delivery to the border or door to door? Thanks for any info. you can provide.
Cheers,

GT3 cup spoiler lips from FVD are ~US$200. Real easy to replace and not a bad price for a "wear item" on a Porsche.

I'm sleep deprived, but still checking on these forums,... I went for a drive with a fellow RLer and he really enjoyed the car. I took a few more camera shots, but I realized I didn't have a memory card in it just now. That's a good sign I need to zzz,...

TRACKAR - thanks for the advice. I will get used to it - it just felt a bit out of place with the rest of the car. IMHO.

Carrera GT - can you elaborate what you mean by protect the hubs? Sam left me with the center caps that go in the middle, but it looks pretty cool with them off. Is this not a good idea?

PORGT34ME - for me, I am glad I did not go with the RS. This car is very tight and perfect for what I want it for - spirited drives and maybe 1- 3x track days per year. I am glad I did not go for the buckets, harness, roll cage. I am VERY happy with this car,... I will strongly consider the RS flywheel. I liked my 7.1 RS for it.

DLJ - Just had a friend take care of everything for me. All I did was just register the car and he got all the paperwork done. So, unfortunately - I can't help you there. There are a lot of importers and stories on the forum if you search. It was more effort and time than I had.

Richie18 - I think for the 997.2, I paid ~$225 from Fabryce at GMG.

LOVING THIS CAR,... we should all stop posting on the forums because we're too busy enjoying these toys!!!

Its such a awkwardly large object that shipping is expensive unfortunately.

^ Richie18: True - but I think that was pre-S&H

You recently got your 997.2 GT3, how are you enjoying it?!

SSTHO, glad to hear the car landed safe & sound, you got a lot of car for the money. Hopefully we'll see you at OPR in the near future.
