How much better is the .2GT3/RS vs the .1GT3/RS??

I have read almost every thread on here on the subject, but I really want to hear from the guys that have actually owned both of these cars and can really compare the pros/cons. Before I spend this kind of money I want to make sure I am making a decision I will not regret. Obviously, the 3.8 is the better engine, but how much better is it? How much better and more fun is the .2GT3 over the .1GT3? On top of that how much better is the .2RS over the .2 GT3 and why? From what I've read it seems the .2 is worth the extra money in all aspects, but is the .2 RS worth the money about the .2GT3? I appreciate everyones feedback and experience. Which of the below would you choose or if you have owned them which was your favorite?
Average prices:
.1GT3 80K
.1RS 100K
.2GT3 100K
.2RS 130K
Average prices:
.1GT3 80K
.1RS 100K
.2GT3 100K
.2RS 130K

Imagine the ideal car. What do you want to spend on it? 80, 100, or 130k? Everyone wants the latest and greatest - that comes at a price. Soon there will be something better than 997.2 ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
There is a fellow rennlister selling a well optioned 8k mile 997.1 for 77k. That's a no brainer. Thats' the car I would get if I wanted some variant of a 997.

Probably comes down to your budget and personal taste. Anything can be justified.
As you say, basic 3 is $20k more for a .2, but that's a 2 - 3 year younger car. For the RS the delta is $30k. Again newer and improved.
They're all good and you can't go wrong with either. See what you can get locally if that matters and go from there. The hunt is evolutive and what you start out looking for might not be what you end up with... that's the way it is for me anyway.
Not sure if this counts cause I haven't owned both; actually have not owned either but I read a lot

.2RS is worth the extra for the 3.8 and the revised gearing (essentially just a 3.89 ring and pinion vs. a 3.44, and a different 6th gear IIRC)
I have not owned both but I do have a regeared .1RS and I know what it costs etc
sunroof car was not an option for me

I would like to know this as well. How better is the .2Gt3rs than .2Gt3. I already own the gt3.2 but wonder about just how much better can the RS be in terms of fun on a street driving basis. Does the .2 Gt3 RS sound much better than Gt3.2 as well?

it is better by .1 ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Seriously however, you will want the latest greatest being the end of the production line 997.2 GT3.
-Gearing
-Power of 3.8 vs. 3.6
If you not afraid of the flashy graphics and colors, go with the RS of course.
If you wish to drive everyday and park it in public places, perhaps the non RS would work best.
If you wish to spend under 100k, then either 997.1 will suffice with the same principal of parking in public places.
any RS model = awesome however

Here is the thing:
On 997.1 between regular GT3 and RS there was not a huge difference between the cars other than Aero, wider track in the rear and LWFW (am I missing something?). Also no sunroof.
On 997.2 the cars have 3.8L engine which gives the car more torque down low (which is what people have been saying the 997.1 GT3 lacked), no sunroof, better suspension, better Aero.
The .2 RS is that much better with wider track in rear and front, lighter, better grearing, LWFW, more HP, Bucket seats from factory (I guess that's it).
So it all depends on your budget as said above. If I had the money, I'd go for a .2 RS and call it a day for sure...

I had a '07 GT3 and now an '10RS. Depending on the track I've found the RS to be 1-2 seconds a lap faster;
Summit Point
GT3 1:19.6
GT3RS 1:18.4
VIR
GT3 2:06.8
GT3RS 2:04.6
I thought I'd love the new gearing in the RS, but it really depends on what track your on. VIR gearing works awesome, but at Summit Point I wish it had the old gearing (run out of gear right before the brake zones, and not worth the time for a shift, so bump off the throttle limiter. For a few low speed turns need to use 3rd instead of 2nd, so not quite in the power band.) Only had one partial season in the RS, so the delta in times will grow with more experience in the RS. That said, going from one to the other was little learning difference (a bit more rear grip in the RS)

How would compare the power and on the road drivability?which is the more enjoyable car overall?

Were the cars stock or did you upgrade susp etc....
What wheel tire combos?
What's your alignment?
I just bought a GT3 .1 RS and so far on old 710s 245 40 18 and 305 30 18 the best I can manage at VIR is high 2.09. Stock with a cage but somewhat stripped so the weight is approx 3100. Only about 10 sessions at VIR and probably have a another 3 seconds with better tires and smoother driving. Just mounted some 315 30 18 and 255 35 18 Hoo R6s so hopefully that will bring the time down in the 2.06 range.
Thanks!
PS sorry for the thread jack but this could be some good info
