Question GT3 RS LE

So, if we have a GT3 RS LE with a 4.0 coming in a few months, where does that leave the plain old GT3 before the 997 end-of-life run? Any news out there?

i really cant see porsche punching out a 4.0L with the 3.8L already in the 997.2.

You've asked this question several times here and on different forums...it's still the same answer: what I've been told is that the 4.0 LE will only be an RS version.

There should not be a standard GT3 version of a short life production car. Last year the RS oversold the GT3, that's what happens when the RS is that much better than the GT3. It doesn't make sense to build a 4.0 GT3, when there are 3.8 cars waiting for new owners.

But it makes sense to build a GT3 RS with carbon fenders, the GT2 suspension and body lightening, a 4.0L with 475 Hp minimum and 8750 rpm, the sticky tires from the GT2 RS, more aero downforce.

I hope the 4.0 is called GT3 RSR, with a Red R, and I hope it gets a higher MSRP than the 2008 997 GT2, so very few show up on streets and track.

Porsche is pushing that 9A1 engine, so if we see a 9A1 equipped Cup car, we can say good bye to the metzger engine, and like the last 993, the last 997 GT3 RS will become a lifetime icon.

That is the big mystery. However, something will be done with the GT3 also, maybe with the 3.8. will it be an LE? who knows. C'mon Spring. We should know something by April.

I really don't expect that. The base GT3 has too small a margin. Porsche would be wise to use all the remaining Mezger cases on the higher margin RS LE.

I had a "coded" conversation with Porsche representative about the GT3RS LE. He was very tight lipped about any details so I asked him to say just yes or know if my guessing is right. It seems the base price will be over $200K but less than the GT2RS.

That's too bad. I was hoping it would be less...

Almost, well it was through email. i still have it. He appologized not being able to say anything more which is somewhat understandable. I previously thought the base price may will be around 150-175K but exclusivity seems to be more expensive from Porsche.

Don't expect it for a while since Porsche just brought out the 2RS and these black editions that they have now
